Where is that article? From time to time, we’re asked to forward individual PDF copies of articles by our authors. While I’m always pleased to send you what you need, delivered straight to your inbox, I understand that sometimes finding it yourself is quicker than asking for it. Especially with the terrific response we’ve received for Frank Woeste’s July article, “Rethinking Ways to Encourage Permanent Truss Bracing,” we’ve decided that it’s time to post articles separately. Regular readers of The Advertiser will be able to snag copies of pieces they would like to have and share – and casual visitors to the site will find complete issues as well as single articles.

What about those supporting documents? But why stop there? As many people know, Frank has been working on issues affecting our industry for decades, and he has many articles to his credit. Especially in the case of his work on bracing, there’s a lot of valuable information to be shared with a larger community. And it is in everyone’s interest to share information, grow the knowledge base, increase understanding across professions, and support the industry and its members. From hyperlinks to PDFs, there’s a whole lot of good stuff that should be available online, so we’re starting to see how we can help with that effort. When will it be ready? There are two answers to that question. First, starting with the July issue, we’ve already posted the individual articles. August articles will be posted mid-month, and we’ll also look into posting articles from earlier issues of The Advertiser. The second answer to that question is: soon. Because the item of most interest (so far) has been that bracing article, we’re starting with additional resources which connect to that topic. The “resources” section of the library is something that will be even more developed by the time you are reading this column (compared to when I am writing this). You’re welcome to stop by the website and check it out, but please don’t be alarmed if it still looks like a work in progress. It is! When will it D-O-N-E?

Now that is definitely my favorite question – and I am happy to say that it will never be done! No good resource is ever completed. There are always more things to add, more avenues to travel, and more bridges to build. What’s more, we welcome your feedback and input on what else you would like to see in our online resources. The open forum concept in this magazine will extend to the website, and we will endeavor to be responsive to your requests. Of course, there will be hiccups along the way – from technological constraints to unintended consequences (and controversies) – but we’re giving it a go anyway.
