he Fed lowered its benchmark interest rate by half a percent in September, and our funding banks have also lowered their rates in response.
This is great news for the economy as a whole, as interest rates are now lower for all forms of credit, including mortgages. From a macroeconomic viewpoint, the objective is to keep the economy humming while keeping inflation low, which benefits everyone. As you consider financing new or used equipment for replacement purposes or to grow your business, these changes mean that you can now finance at a lower cost. Furthermore, you can also take advantage of the benefits of Section 179. A special IRS benefit available to businesses with depreciable assets such as equipment and vehicles, Section 179 allows you to write off the full expense of a business asset in the year you place the asset into service, as opposed to taking a depreciation expense over many years. There is a limit to how much you can deduct: in 2024, the limit is $1,220,000. But, you can aggregate many business-asset expenses for the year, as long as they all have been put into use in 2024.
