My husband and his father used to install a lot of wallpaper in the mid-1990s and by the early 2000s, they were ripping all of it out and painting the walls. For the past few years, wallcoverings have become popular and versatile. We’ve seen shiplap, barnboard, stone, wallpaper, and more. b. Florals – When created in beautiful color palettes, florals bring both an elegant and happy feel to a space.

Typically used in bedrooms, I’ve seen accent walls that are covered in curtains, quilts, and other fabrics to add a dramatic backdrop for a bed. Done correctly, this can look absolutely amazing and very unique.

Of course paint will stand the test of time; it’s versatile, it’s changeable, and it’s still the most popular wallcovering choice. How the walls are painted has changed over time and here are some popular trends in painted walls today:
