Welcome
CANADIAN RED ANGUS PROMOTION SOCIETY FROM
It has been a great honour to serve as President of the board as CRAPS heads into the “Next 50 Years’’. This dedicated group has many new ideas to help keep the Canadian Red Angus breed competitive and relevant in the increasingly competitive beef industry. The Red Angus cow is a profitable, efficient and highly maternal female and we need to continually promote her attributes. I encourage you to take time to visit with the different board members and hear about our ideas and share any that you may have. If you aren’t currently a member of CRAPS I would encourage you to join. “Membership is not about not about belonging to a group, but about being a part of something greater than yourself.”
As a board we reflected on what made Red Round Up great and it was universally agreed that it is the Canadian Red Angus breeders. The breeders commitment to consigning their very best animals. The commitment to getting their cattle ready. The commitment in taking the time to travel and participate in the sale. The commitment of purchasing animals. The commitment of fundraising through donation of items and purchase of fundraising tickets. The commitment to developing our youth. I would like to thank you all for the part you played in helping the Canadian Red Angus breed to run one of the longest running consignment sales, we couldn’t have done it without you.
The 2023 edition of Red Round Up is exciting. I know that might sound cliche; every year is supposed to be! This one just has a fresh, reinvigorated feel. The consignors are optimistic, the industry is in a place of record precedence and the cattle are as elite as they come. There will be new youth initiatives when you arrive, there will be a
larger value put on promotion and commerce during the weekend. There is however the same steadfast approach to high quality genetics and productive producers.
Please consider this your invitation to join the Promotion Society, our dedicated sales team at OBI, and all the Red Angus enthusiasts in October in Olds at the prestigious Red Round Up.

Welcome OBI LIVESTOCK LTD. FROM
Welcome to the 51st Annual Canadian Red Round-Up Sale. My team was honored to be selected as the sales management and will carry on the tradition of this prestigious event.
The past 50 years of this sale has seen some of the best cattle and people in the Red Angus Industry. The history of the Red Round-Up Sale was evident with the 50th Anniversary Sale last year and what an event it was. The crowd was enormous with many founding members in attendance. When you looked around the banquet room, everyone saw their mentors there. The knowledge that has been passed to all in the past 50 years for the breed was priceless. It was an honor to be part of this event last year along with the record setting sale. Congratulations again to all the consignors, purchasers, and sale staff in making the event one to remember.
Now onto the 51st Annual Sale…… The herd tours were so pleasing in all the provinces. I really do enjoy seeing all the cattle the consignors have. You sure can tell the programs that are excelling with the operations they have. Every consignor worked with me with selections, and they opened their herds to myself and the team. The selection process at each operation was to bring their best to town and it shows in the quality offered this year. The best part of this year is we have 12 New and Returning Consignors to the sale. I really like this feature to include new breeders that can out their cattle up for evaluation by the audience.
The offering put forth is just plain Top Notch. Lot 1 Pick Of The Herd from Topham Red Angus, what an opportunity to go and select a donor cow from one of the best cow herds in Canada. Lots 2 & 3 will be foundation females that sure will gather a lot attention. Great udders and Feet, what we all talk about in the Breed!!! The heifer calves and bred heifers are flat outstanding with no one holding back keepers on me. Like I have said, the selection process works when trying to obtain the best female from the farms. This is why we get the best of the best in Canada from the 44 Consignors. The knowledge I gain after each visit is amazing with what breeders are looking for to enhance their own programs. So, in doing this process, I have selected 5 bulls that I feel will make the Red Angus Breed even better in the Frozen Section. Great footed, dark hided, deep sided herdbulls that will make a huge impact in the breed. Embryos selected from top programs across North America as well. The Donor cows are ones we need to have more of in the land. These are your opportunities to take advantage of in the 51st Red Round-Up Sale!!!
I would like to thank Rainbow Red Angus for donating the heifer this year. Also like to thank the CRAPS Board of directors who have been very open and communicated with me very easily. We are on the same page with decisions going forward. Keep the Sale Simple with having the best Quality of Red Angus Cattle on display. Always been told, they will come if the stock is there and folks, you be the judge and I will see

you at Olds for the best event in North America for the Red Angus Breed. We do have some special people hired on this year for our American and Mexican friends. Cheramie Viator was one of my dad’s favorite people in the world; she has an amazing eye for cattle and her opinion is so valued by myself. Roger Peters is one of my and my father’s best friends and his knowledge has taught me so much in the cattle industry. These two mentors of mine, you can trust from anywhere in North America.
My team and I know the offering very well, so if you can’t make it to the sale, please do not hesitate to call and discuss the very strong offering. Let’s make the next 50 years of this breed one to remember as well! I will be at Olds from Thursday to Saturday Night, so please do come to The Red Round-Up Sale this year so I can visit with you in person, and you can evaluate the fabulous offering.

I think I caught a few people off guard when I told them we were bringing a heifer to Red Roundup. We knew we would support the 51st Red Roundup in some capacity, and this just seemed the most fitting. This sale was the launchpad for our program over 10 years ago and we are proud to say that this is the way that the last animal from Rainbow Red angus will walk through that ring. Now this little lady is nothing to sneeze at, she’s young, but she’d also be in our replacement pen any other year. Sired by Slowburn, that’s a pretty good start, and an outcross black twist on the bottom, she’ll be a productive cow for years to come.
Lot 1
We are excited to be back at Red Round-Up! We haven’t sold a purebred female since Red Round-Up 2009. Ian started our Red Angus herd almost 30 years ago. We have always culled hard on feet, udders and disposition and believe that our cattle should work in anybody’s herd. Our herd consists of 90 mature, proven cows and 30 top of the line bred heifers. The cows on offer today were exposed to Red Lazy MC Fury 20J, Red Ter-Ron Joker 84J, Red Six Mile Typhoon 107K and Moose Creek Macoun 13E. The heifers were A.I.’ed to Red SSS Tycoon 225E and exposed to Red W Sunrise 719K. All females on offer were exposed to bulls between May 10 – July 19.
We invite everyone to stop by our place and have a tour of our cattle. For more photos and info visit our Website: www.tophamredangus.com or call: 306295-4040 or cell: 306-295-7840
We look forward to seeing you.

We wanted to come back to the 51st Red Roundup with a bang, and Pride 20J will do just that! She is one of the first milking daughters of Red Wheel Stark 67G, who has earned a reputation of being one of the most exciting outcross sires in the breed, by adding Brooking Bank Note to the red gene pool. Stark sons have been very popular for their curve bending capabilities, added muscle shape and fleshing ability. Several Stark sons sold this spring to progressive breeders including Scott Stock Farm, Patchell Livestock, Hawkeye Ranching, Rivers Edge Cattle and Rooke Farms. Stark’s daughters are weaning their first calves now and we could not be more pleased with their udder quality, milk flow and fleshing ability, and the quality of the calves they have raised. Pride 20J is pictured coming straight off pasture having weaned one of our best Typhoon bull calves that will be a feature in our 2024 bull sale. It hurts to let young females in the prime of their productive life go, but our loss offers a tremendous opportunity to the successful buyer. The Pride cow family originates from Red Roundup 2001 when Red Fly Away Pride 161K was purchased. She went on to be a many times Champion female and corner stone cow in our program. Her daughter Black Wheel Pride VRD 12P continued her dam’s legacy and prowess in the show ring, and in production as our first donor female. We feel the exciting service to Red SSS Good Time Charlie 364J will compliment Pride 20J perfectly. Check out our heifer calf consignments to see what Charlie can do.

LOT 3 Every year before sales management comes to tour selecting for sales, we pick out the females that we think will be selected and can warm up to the idea of these females leaving our herd. When Kurt was out and proposed the idea of bringing a cow/calf pair it totally caught us off guard and something that we weren’t expecting at that time. With much thought and after displaying this pair at the Northern Alberta Angus Summer tour with positive feedback on her we decided that we would offer this choice lot. We are very honoured that a cow that we have bred and raised has made the short list of cows that are a part of such a historic sale. Olivia 257G stems back to the dominant Olivia 706P. We purchased a package of embryos off her at Red Round Up several years ago and were hoping that we could build a cow family from these embryos. Her daughter Olivia 2T, who was a dominant show heifer during the World Angus Forum Futurity show, made us want to have a part of this cow in our herd. 257G’s sire is a home raised sire that we kept to walk with our cows after we had the unfortunate accident of losing Bazinga at such an early age. Spunk’s dam has been one of the most influential cows in our herd and we have walked two sons from her now and they are both leaving females just like 257 in our herd. 257G’s pedigree is full of major influential dams like Amber 46W, Goldie 240L, Thelma 84Y, Olivia 706P. We feel that she is just going to start to make a major influence on her new owner’s herd just like all these dams have made on the breed. Not often will we offer a cow of this caliber that is just getting to the prime of her life and showing that she can be a very successful producer with her heifer calf at foot.
LOT 3A 302L is just one of those calves that stops and grabs your attention from a very early age in the pasture. It crossed my mind early this summer that this is a pair that we should consider showing this fall. We have only sold a couple of Shocker females previously and this could be his best effort yet. Shocker was purchased from Ter-Ron Farms privately as a yearling bull. When we saw his mass and muscle pattern, we knew we just had to have his influence in our herd. He was alongside his dam when they were slapped Supreme Champion at Farmfair. We have been continuing to use Shocker in our herd every year to raise replacement females, as they are big bodied, good uddered, and easy keeping.

Our Ann cow family is noted for being a production powerhouse. The most notable member of this cow family being Annie Oakley 8B, who is a maternal sister to Ann 127E, the dam of Ann 56L. When you add in the outcross influence of Bank Note, and our new female making sire Good Time Charlie, you create a very unique high-quality female in terms of genotype and phenotype. Whether you are looking for an elite show heifer or future donor cow these Good Time Charlie calves have us very excited. Good luck choosing between these two special individuals.

Meg 169Z has been a model donor female with embryos, sons and daughters topping sales across North America. Her high selling progeny are too numerous to mention them all. We ourselves sold two Meg daughters in the 2021 Ladies of the West sale, with one being the highest selling Red Angus bred heifer in Canada that year, selling to Crestland Farms and Gomack Red Angus. We retained Meg 49H to carry on the legacy of Meg 169Z, who is now deceased, with no embryos left in inventory. We mated Meg 49H to our newest herd sire addition Good Time Charlie who offers rib shape, ideal structure and a high quality, attractive phenotype we feel is very rare. He will be a major piece of the puzzle in our quest to create high quality seed stock.

Red W Sunrise Molly 250L is a pretty, special piece. One of the most exciting Red Calves we have ever brought out. She has the rare combination of showiness and performance all wrapped up in an extremely sharp fronted and elegant package. Her dam is a moderate framed cow with an exceptional udder. This is the first set of Red SSS Good Time Charlie 364J calves and they are outstanding. This sire group will play a major role in our program to come. Not to mention these 2 outstanding heifer calves at this year’s Red Round-Up, the sire group of bull calves are amongst the best we ever had.

Red W Sunrise Sunflower 257L has been a standout since day one. She is a stout made, easy fleshing, real attractive female with cow written all over her. She is correct made, super sound and shows excellent teat placement. She has all the right tools it takes to produce a herdbull one day and look really good doing it. From pedigree tom phenotype is what we strive for at W Sunrise Angus.
Brandy is the type of heifer we wouldn’t mind having more of in our herd. She is dark cherry red and is set to turn out just like her eye appealing momma. Her sire, Judo, is a calving ease specialist that we are extremely happy with, who sold to South View Ranch in our 2022 bull sale. His offspring dominate our calf crop, and we are very excited to see both the bulls and females mature. She is exceptionally long spined and carries that length all the way through her front end. She is pretty, nice skulled, and out of the great Brandy cow family who maintains a high head count in our herd.

Kassie 20L is a heifer that we are extremely proud of. Dark cherry red, big ribbed, and excellent feet. Her teat placement is exceptional which is very typical of Drac daughters. Her only two paternal sisters ever sold have gone on to win the 49th RRUP, Princess of the Prairies, Supreme Summer Synergy, Junior Angus Showdown, UFA Supreme Quest Champion. Kassie 20L has a full brother, Allison Sundance 63J owned by 4M cattle. We admired him for the amount of muscle mass, soundness, and foot quality and chose to incorporate him into our purebred herd. Her dam, Red Allison Kassie 11F is an exceptional female. She is moderate with excellent feet and udder, and always produces a great calf. Our Black Wheel Dracarys 86G progeny have been the most popular in our bull sale and females to sell. We admire him for the quality of females, specifically udder, foot, and ease of fleshing. These females are exceeding expectations in the pasture, and we are confident Kassie 20L will have great success in both the pasture and show ring.

Brandina catches your eye with her big rib and body depth. Her Dam is a beautiful, sharp looking cow that is one of our top producers every year. We are thrilled with the turn out of mating this particular Dam with Redwood, this match will definitely be in happening again. Excited to bring you this offering of 30L. This calf has been a shining light in this year’s calf crop from the start. She carry’s herself with great natural depth, smoothly made with loads of femininity. Out of a great cow family from 47E which she has an amazing udder and calving ease. Without a doubt 47E is one of our best cows in the herd. The Red Wood calves have topped our Bull Sale last year and are impressed with both his males and females. Keeping the dark cherry red color. We feel 30L is going to be an amazing cow as she matures. This is one we really don’t want to part with. Come have a look for yourself at the sale this year.
Powerful, stout made heifer with eye appeal and tremendous bone. Aster is an absolute sweetheart with an incredibly gentle disposition and would make a great junior project. The Jaguar sire group was admired by many at the Northern Alberta Angus Tour. All of the Jaguar calves are very good, and Mark found the best one. At 9 years old the 134B cow still has a near perfect foot and very good udder. She produced one heifer that went to Mexico and 4 very marketable sons that have all sold in our bull sale. With the consistency on both sides of her pedigree and outstanding presence 144L has, we are extremely excited about her future.

The opportunity to purchase a front-end donor type female doesn’t happen often. Marta 304L is an extremely attractive Red Bear daughter that is sure to catch your eye. She is backed by one of the most prolific cow families in the Six Mile herd. In 2021, we had the opportunity to purchase Marta 538C from Six Mile. We knew she would be a female to build our Red Angus herd around, and she is doing just that. The flush to Red Bear exceeded our expectations, giving us three top notch bull calves and three females that we will focus on continuing to build our red angus herd around. The best one could very well be the one that will be walked through the ring at Red Round Up. Marta 304L is an extremely balanced, sound footed female with ideal teat placement. Marta will be entered in FarmFair International as well as Agribition. We would love the opportunity to work with the new owners and continue to promote Marta this fall. We would like to retain a flush at the new owner’s convenience.
CONSIGNED BY TOWAW CATTLE CO.
Red Towaw Leah 406L is an extremely attractive show heifer candidate with a very strong maternal pedigree. Her dam, Red DMM Leah 44C, is a powerful donor cow at Miller Wilson that we were fortunate enough to purchase a flush on. She is a very good footed, correct structured female with a great udder. Her sire is the maternal legend, Red Towaw Indeed 104H, who was introduced to the Red Angus world at RRUP ‘98 as the pair of bulls Champion. Her dam, Leah 129U, was the Champion Female at Olds Fall Classic in 2010 as a two-year-old with Red DMM Glesbar Barndance 35X at side. He turned into a dominant show bull sweeping all the major fall shows in 2012 and winning a truck as the Supreme Champion Bull at Farmfair that year as well. Growth, foot quality and style are very prepotent in this pedigree. Red SSS Granite 74H was our pick at the 2021 SSS Bull Sale and he already has had a great impact at Towaw. Both of our RRUP heifer calves last year were Granite daughters, sold to Sterling Christman and Olds College, and we have a strong group of replacement heifers in the pen. The yearling full sister to Leah 406L has the look of a tremendous brood cow in the making. The only way we can let this heifer go is because we have two full sisters to replace her at home. We want to retain show rights on this heifer through Farmfair.

The Colosolite Cow Family has made a huge impact in our breeding program and it took some convincing from Mark to get this young lady into this year’s Canadian Red Roundup Sale. Colosolite 9L has had several champion siblings in our show string over the years, so we are very confident she will make a solid addition to any breeding program. She is sure footed with a gentle disposition, just like her Dam. Her sire, Red Six Mile Mr.Wick 169H is an outstanding Six Mile John Wick son and has been doing a very impressive job here at the Ranch, with several offspring being retained in our herd as well as other breeding programs.
CONSIGNED BY WRIGHT CATTLE CO.
311L is a heifer to build a program around; one we feel is the right kind, moderate made, long bodied, with a super sweep to her rib cage in a very maternal looking package. 311L is sired by Red Six Mile Roush, a Red Box son, that we acquired a semen pack on and used with tremendous results, He sired high performing, good-looking cattle with an added shot of performance. 311L’s mother is tremendous blackred carrier Killswitch daughter that doesn’t miss.
311L is a heifer that could definitely show, but more importantly, once she hits production will reach her full potential.

LEADING LADY is a female that will make you proud whether on the show road, in the front pasture or as a donor cow. 51L grabs your attention with her sweetness, style, muscle shape and extension though the front end. RED DFCC 101J LEADING LADY 51L’s dam is a tremendous female with a square udder and great feet. This Eye Hill cow has made a positive impact on our herd by producing productive females and high selling bulls. 51L’s sire was our pick at the 2022 Ter-Ron Bull Sale. Unfortunately, he was injured and only sired a handful of calves. This Genius son has an outstanding pedigree, but my favorite part of this bull was his wicked dam. RED DFCC 101J LEADING LADY has a very bright future ahead of her!!

Well bred, and well-made heifer calf on offer out of a super Atomic dam that keeps breeding better than herself each year. “Ms. Bo” packs the perfect amount of punch with class! Soft made, hairy, and sound is exactly what she is. An outcross pedigree on both ends adds that much more value to her. If you weren’t aware Duff Juanda is a purple female that bridges some unique Angus breeding into the Red Angus breed. Riley Merrill purchased the high selling red heifer calf out of the Northern Sale 2022 sired by Red Blood as well. Quality runs deep in this female! Over the years Red Roundup has been a special place for us to meet many knowledgeable fellow Red Angus breeders who have made a big impact on our growth at Anchor 1 Angus. It has been a few years since we participated in this event, but thanks to the help and encouragement from our friends at Towaw Cattle Co., we will be back in October 2023 to offer a heifer calf that we are extremely proud of. Lace 83L is an exciting and promising young female that started as a straw of Mann Red Box 55C semen that we purchased as a package from Red Roundup just 2 years ago. When breeding time came around, we just knew that the flawless structure of Red Anchor 1 Lace 276A would be a bombproof mating with Red Box, not to mention the fact that this solid momma cow had just cranked out leadoff Red Angus bulls backto-back in our 2022 & 2023 spring bull sales. Lace 83L is a soft made, powerful female with a workable hair coat. 83L is well on her way to becoming a future herd bull factory, backed by a proven 10-year-old dam.
SIREMeg 103L is one of the first daughters out of the popular and high selling Adrenaline 28J sire to be offered for sale. She stems from one of the most respected and admired cow families, with her second and third maternal dams serving as donor cows in some of the most influential herds in Canada. In fact, three full sib sisters to dam, are now working and are donor females at Terron Farms, KBJ/Geis Angus, and La Bonanza Angus (Mexico)… we greatly value this cow’s future in our herd. The exciting young Adrenaline sire has done everything we expected, adding growth, dimension, and performance to his offspring, he is maternally designed, structured and backed by an outstanding cow family. Buy with confidence in this youngster!!

She snuck up on us as a late February calf and is one of the best females we have ever raised here at Yarrow Creek. Princess 23138L is a 4th generation Parent Verified Heifer with a different twist of pedigree. The paternal granddam U-2 Anexa was the 2nd high seller at the U2 Dispersal, and the maternal sire was bred to the well-known Redemption Y1334 bull. Our elite Princess line began in 2007 with 54S, and she was the front pasture dam in our herd for many years. Her progeny 1828F has a perfect udder, good feet and quickly rising to the top of our herd. Princess 23138L has a beautiful front end with perfect feminine angularity, a great depth and hip end…. like no tomorrow. This U2 Foreigner daughter is made right to not only perform in the show ring but also perform in all her future progeny.

Her mother Princess 697D is literally a “no miss” cow calving first cycle every year, AI or Natural Service, with a BW Ratio of 91 and WW Ratio of 102. Expect production out of this dark red heifer. Her Granddam is the prolific donor Red ACC Tibbie 13B who has 45 registered progeny, raised 19 sale bulls including Red ACC Redbox 119H, and holds our record for freezing 42 number one embryos in one flush to Coming in Hot 24E. You can tell from the picture this heifer is a chunk, thick topped and square right to the ground. She already has the beginnings of a very nice udder with her fore udder extending far forward under her flank. This heifer will go on to raise powerful bull calves and elegant easy fleshing daughters.

An Outstanding Female that goes back to Specialist on her Sire’s side. Her Dam has done a tremendous job as a first time calver, with high fertility, production and beautiful udder development. This heifer has eye appeal and can really be appreciated when she gets out on the move. There is endless potential with a female like this! This was a hard decision to make when this heifer was selected for Red Round Up. She comes from the junior division of the cow herd; and Dallis is Very proud to be able to offer such a beautiful female out of her 4-H cow. Dallis has done her “homework’ and has her parent verified and ready for sale day. If you have any questions please out to us or the sales staff. We look forward to seeing everyone at Red Round up this year.

245L is exactly what we were hoping for when we added Fortress to our semen tank a couple of years ago. After Fortress’ first breeding season we approached Kurt to see if he would be interested in selling a semen package on him, luckily for us Kurt was willing to let us try him and we are ever glad that we have been able to add him to our herd. We used 40 straws on him the first year and the calves that we have on the ground are exactly what we were hoping for. His calves are born small and grow strong all year long, they are deep bodied, good footed, round muscled, and dark coloured. The Dana cow family was the very first cow family that we started with on our farm when we were growing our purebred herd. We can show you her dam, grand dam, and great grand dam in our herd all still working. 245L’s great grand dam is the dam of Red Goad Mission 148’21 that is working at Triple L Angus and was a Reserve Division Champion for them last fall at Agribition.

For our first time offering up a Red female and especially at the prestigious Red Roundup we wanted to offer an unique female. Pathy is just that, one that offers an interesting combination on paper. Being sired by none other than the 2022 Farmfair International Reserve Champion Red Angus bull, Fortress 82H. He has left his mark early on, stamping his calves with consistency of ease of fleshing, smooth makeup, and modest birth weight. His daughters we are sure will be his true legacy with an extremely consistent stamp to them with big rib and maternal look. This dark, cherry red female traces back to one of our first red female purchases from our good friends at Goad Family Angus. Pathy 166D is still going strong with an ideal foot and udder. Throwing a black twist in this lovely lady’s pedigree with our JL Source 4092 Grandsire offers a unique spice to a red pedigree. We feel this is a female we are quite honoured to offer up as our very first red female to come forth for public appraisal. We think she has a strong future ahead of her in a refined look and maternally strong background!

Becca is a daughter of our powerful Rebecca 32C black/red carrier cow. The Father of this beautiful, bred heifer is a Flying K Max son that we sold to Colin Palmer and when he was done with him, we bought him back. True to the Max line they are easy calving and in a more moderate framed package. This bred heifer was sweet by the side of her mom last summer and she has just grown into herself. She is serviced to Red Goad Pilsner 183’21 who has some outstanding calves on the ground from last year’s heifer group. This cross should be a perfect cross. This heifer is a sweet made young lady that is sure to attract some interest. We were one of the host farms to tour this past summer on the Saskatchewan Angus summer tour and the pen of bred heifers were one of the highlights from the comments we received.

We brought this year’s heifer calf from our Double C Rebecca 32C. This cow was flushed for the first time this year and she flushed 28 eggs first round, and we have 15 frozen embryos. I would say that for an older cow this lady has what we all look for in reproductive acuity. We sold 1/3 share in Rebecca 32C to Riskin Hope farms, Vern and Jayden Luther along with our second 1/3 owner Janie Jensen. So, this year we offer the heifer calf she was carrying when we sold her. Rebecca is from our own Jin 217J who’s pedigree you may not know but know this about Aspiration. He was 9 years old when we finally sent him off from our operation and he was a solid built individual on an amazing foundation and not once did a ferrier touch his feet. It is what we strive for here at our ranch. Foundation and fertility are the top of our criteria, and this little lady should have it hands down. Let her and her mother’s picture tell the story and look her up when you are at Round Up, we know you won’t be disappointed.

The Red Angus breed was built by pioneering men and women seeking fresh genetics, maternally driven females and cattle that maybe weren’t appreciated by all but they were certainly right for the times. Cattle that are youthful in their condition, great footed and big ribbed are the cattle that are efficient, and longevity driven. Here is a set of maternal sisters that check all the boxes for any astute cattle breeder.
The dam of these is really starting to make her mark in the Diamond T herd after being a feature acquisition from SixMile Red Angus. She is unique in her pedigree with legends such as two shots of SAV Predominant, HXC Conquest, Rito 707, EXT, Cherokee Canyon and Red Towaw Indeed. Her tidy udder, sweeping and bold rib cage, sturdy and significant bone combined with her first 3 calves being highlight replacement females, 246G is making a case for herself to enter the donor pen this spring.

Brndina 59K is a prime example of our commitment to injecting outcross genetics from our black herd into the red herd. Her sire Motivate, is a grandson of the famous Soo Line Motive. He has been our senior herd bull for a number of years, with progeny highlights including the $22,000 Wilbar Motivation 686H at BCR Ventures, TX and a $16,000 high seller to Ter-Ron at the 49th Red Round Up. Her dam, Wilbar Brndina 516G is a daughter of PM Executive Decision 5’17, arguably the best son of the immortal BAR-E-L Natural Law. A flush mate to 516G is a donor at Wilbar and raised a $21,000 heifer calf last fall to Blairs.Ag and Arrowsmith at the Opportunity Knocks 3.0 sale. 59K herself has been shown successfully this summer by Owen making it to the division championship at just about every show she’s been to. To sweeten the pot just a little more, Red Wilbar Brndina 59K carries the service of our 2021 high selling bull Red Wilbar Tempo 625H. Diamond Mist is bred early to Reagan… this mating could be exciting! Reagan’s outcross pedigree and phenotype are what makes the calf this gal carries even more special.

Its hard to let a female with this type of calibre go. The Aster cow family originated from the legendary Fine Line dispersal a number of years ago. We purchased the 12T cow (great-grand dam) as a heifer calf who went on to be a CAA Elite cow. 117K is a moderate, deep ribbed brood cow in the making with a stacked EPD profile. Top 1% in WW and YW and top 10% in Milk. We purchased the Trooper sire as the high selling lot at the Mar Mac bull sale that spring because of the maternal cow power behind him and it sure shows in the first set of daughters we calved out this past winter. 117K is bred to the high selling lot from Redrich Farms, Red Redrich Justice 240J who averaged and 80 lb BW on his first calf crop and will have numerous sons highlight our bull pen at weaning.
Mar Mac has brought you a Ripzone daughter out of an exciting young Fran female. The Ripzone daughters are tight uddered, top producing, easy fleshing females that have longevity and femininity. Sire verified. Fran 170F never lets us down like her grandsire and granddam; they were proven foundation Red Angus. The Neptune progeny left us calving ease and beautiful females. Fran goes back to our original Fran cow family. 170F has another full sister to 24K this year. 246K is a new twist of bloodlines for our herd being a daughter of Red NCJ Lazy MC Ramblinman 305B. We have sampled just a few straws of Ramblin Man and have been very happy with the results that we have got from using him. Just like a lot of good replacement females in our herd we see the influence of Bazinga in their pedigree again. With the combination of major female producing bulls in her pedigree we feel that 246K is going to make a very positive impact on her new owner’s herd. An added bonus, 246K is bred to the calving ease Semex sire Red Dahlke Outcome 016H.

We are thrilled to be back at Red Round Up this year. One of our elite bred heifers is making the journey to Olds and will make plenty of friends along the way. She is a full sibling to Red ACC Redbox 119H and bred early to Red Six Mile Wick 146H. She’s deep sided, bold ribbed and fancy fronted. Her dam Red ACC Tibbie 13B has done it all and can raise a great one no matter what you breed her to. Red ACC Tibbie 13B has registered 45 progeny so far and raised 19 sale bulls. Her service to Wick 146H is equally as exciting. He has done an excellent job breeding our replacement heifers and his sons have been very well received by our bull customers.

Sinergy 112K has been a heifer that has caught many eyes with her deep body and feminine angularity. Her Dam was our selection from the T-K Dispersal where we loved her body shape and udder structure, she has that “cow” type we really like, typical of the Cactus daughters. Sired by the very popular Genesis herdbull, whose legend continues to grow for siring lighter birth weight, high growth and very desirable type and kind of progeny…. Oh, and they are very marketable too. The exposure and breeding to our top RReds Copper G929 son will add a coupon with exciting potential and future expectations.

Real pretty made Simple Man daughter with lots of growth. Stemming from the good Ruby cow family, her dam is a big power cow that has the best bull calf this year from Coming In Hot. Her service to Convoy should be pretty exciting; his first calves were all born unassisted and are doing really well. Her dam’s maternal sister pictured was Reserve Spring Heifer Calf Champion at FarmFair.

We have been more than pleased with our herd bull purchase of Red U2 Ice Man 448F, he is making quite the positive impact on our program. Increasing the quality of feet, mannerism and performance through his offspring. 418 possesses all the right qualities; femininity, length of spine, angularity in her skeleton head to foot, and holds strong udder qualities in her pedigree. Here is a herd building female.

What a weapon! If you’re looking to add scale, bone; improve foot quality, testicle size, hair, and skeletal build, then Metric is your guy. He created quite a stir this spring, when Blairswest Land & Cattle tied into him for a $120,000 valuation. And let me tell you there were more than a couple well known names pretty deep into the bidding. His sire is HOT right now, making quality functional cattle every where he’s been used. Now on to 46B, or as she come to be known around here, the Herdbull Factory. On 5 natural bull calves she has recorded an average valuation of $38200. An average birth ratio of 94 and an average weaning ratio of 115. This year, with her first crop of ET calves, both the heaviest bull and heifer at weaning were her progeny. In his only jump at stud, to date, he collected over 300 straws at 12 months, and we first froze on farm semen at 10 months old, where he tested 92%. Only 100 straws were released to 3 breeders this spring, so the market in still pretty contained. If the purchaser is from the USA, that semen will be available March 1.

Macgregor 601J is a dark red, long bodied, stout made rascal with plenty of growth who is put together about as correctly as you can make one. He is sired by Red SSS Contender, who also happens to be the Grandsire of the Granite 74H bull that has done a great job of breeding for us and other top herds around the country. We showed Macgregor at Lloydminster Stockade last fall where the consortium of Triple L, Piro, and Wrights bought half interest in him and will be joining us in campaigning him at the major shows this fall. His dam, Copper 27W, traces back to the Copper Lady cow family and is a daughter of our son Thomas’s first Red Roundup purchase when he was three. She was a deep bodied, deep red coloured, beauty of a cow that really produced with every try. She was a direct daughter of the maternal legend Indeed 104H and became a donor for Towaw after producing a herdsire and high seller, Red Towaw Jimmy Page, and another daughter that hit the donor pen as well. She also had a son sell to Glesbar Farms. She has flush progeny working in 3 purebred herds including a herdsire at Rainbow Red Angus and the $17,000 heifer calf to Kylie Willms in the 2021 Red Roundup Sale. He will be on display in Olds. When we set out on a journey with a bull there’s always a plan, hope and a little luck. Well the plan has been set to motion. Adrenaline has added bone, length and a little extra jazz in his offspring. The bulls are masculine with early shape development. The heifers carry the power without giving up the feminine characteristics. When you buy a bull there is the idea of hope & expectation that he’s going to add certain aspects to grow your herd. And those qualities have certainly played out with Adrenaline. And we have all struck a little luck and we just know we did something right by injecting a little Adrenaline into our herds. So, if you want to add bone structure, strong feet, length, and muscle with feminine females and masculine bulls, then add a little Adrenaline to your AI tank for the 2024 breeding season. Daughters sell as Lots 20 & 28 in this year’s Red Round-Up Sale.

Annie Oakley is the signature donor cow of our program. We are extremely proud to have bred her as well as her sire and dam. She is a powerful cow in terms of muscle and is ideal in her hind quarter and leg set. She stamps all her progeny with her extremely easy fleshing, dark red pattern. Annie Oakley has produced herd bulls such as Patriot and Convoy, who is one of the most exciting up and coming bulls in the breed. She also has produced daughters that have excelled in the show ring such as the 2021 Louisville Grand Champion TW Annie B, and Agribition Division Champion Red Wheel Annie Oakley 57J. Our twoyear-old show cow Red Wheel Annie Oakley 34J has been Champion or Reserve at every show she has attended this summer. The sire of the embryos is the recent world record selling bull PIE Hollywood 222 that topped Pieper’s 2023 bull sale at $400,000. His semen commands over $1000/straw and this will be the first time his genetics are available in Canada. Hollywood is the ultimate curve bender with moderate birth, explosive growth, exceptional carcass, and stands on a strong foot.
