PRACTISE YOGA FOR CHARITY NAPIER& CO A new yoga group will be running two charity classes this month in a bid to help people less fortunate than others during the festive period. Karen Elle Yoga, which has recently launched Vinyasa flow yoga classes in Westerton, will ask students at the December 12 and 15 sessions to donate food or toys for the Drumchapel foodbank rather than paying for the class. Yoga teacher Karen Elizabeth said: “I wanted to do something to give back to the local community and the foodbank fundraiser is poignant at this time of year. “I hope that everyone will be able to donate something but if not they can pay for the class I’ll simply donate the equivalent amount.” The Karen Elle Yoga classes take place at Westerton Fairlie Memorial Parish Church on Saturdays from 8.30am to 9.30am and 10am to 11am, as well as Wednesdays from 7.40pm to 8.40pm.
Vinyasa flow is one of many styles of yoga practice and focuses on flowing through each posture and synchronising this movement with the breath. Karen says: “Vinyasa Yoga is a great way to improve strength, flexibility and posture. This will improve your all-round fitness
and can help with weight loss as part of a healthy diet.
“In addition, the practice of yoga is beneficial for the mind and can teach you how to approach all kinds of situations in life with calmness.” To find out more see KarenElleYoga on Facebook.
