7.1 CONSTRUCTION MARKET SIZE Since this year’s survey is being jointly undertaken by the four principal-built environment disciplines (architecture, planning, engineering and surveying), it is no longer possible, or appropriate, to rely upon individual assessments of market size as each profession sees the market from a somewhat different perspective and there is no unified definition of what the construction market includes. We have therefore focused our efforts this year on perceptions of market size, and these are shown below.
