551.1 Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Obol (11mm, 0.68 g, 6h). Horse prancing r., border of dots / Π-E above to l. and r., P-A r. down, Athena Itonia r., half kneeling in fighting attitude, wearing crested helmet and long robes, holding spear in her r. hand and shield in her l., all in shallow incuse square. SNG Ashmolean 3906. Near VF, lightly toned; some areas of porosity on the reverse. 551.2 Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Obol (11mm, 0.79 g, 1h). Horse walking r., border of dots / Π-E-P-A from top l., to r. and circular, Athena Itonia r., in fighting attitude, wearing crested helmet and long robes, holding spear in her r. hand and shield in her l., all in shallow incuse square with rounded edges and corners. Not found in references consulted. Good Fine, toned; some old scratches and knocks, mostly on the obv., the rev. with some minor porosity; extremely rare with the walking horse on the obverse. Same rev. die as lot 549 above.

Horse prancing r., border of dots / Π-E-P-A from top l., to r. and circular, Athena Itonia r., in fighting attitude, wearing crested helmet and long robes, holding spear in her r. hand and shield in her l., all in shallow incuse square with rounded edges and corners. Near VF, lightly toned; some scratches in the fields and a die flaw on the rev. above Athena’s helmet.

Not found in references consulted. Good Fine, gunmetal toning; die flaws on rev. below the shield and below Athena’s feet; very rare with walking horse on the obverse. 552.2 Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Obol (12.5mm, 0.91 g, 6h). Bridled horse prancing r., border of dots / Π-E above, to l. and r., P-A below, to l. and r., the P sideways forward, Athena Itonia r., half kneeling in fighting attitude, wearing crested helmet and long robes, holding spear in her r. hand and shield in her l., all in shallow incuse square. Traité IV, 576 and 578. Near VF, lightly toned; obv. with a couple of small die flaws and softly struck.

553.1 Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Hemiobol (10mm, 0.28 g, 6h). Helmeted head of Athena r. / Π-Ε to l. and r. above, forepart of horse r. in incuse square with rounded edges and corners. Traité IV, 580, pl. CCXCIII, 3; see also Nomos 4, 1243 (different dies). Near VF, lightly toned, some granularity, well centred, a rare fraction. 553.2 Perrhaiboi. Late 5th to early 4th centuries BC. AR Hemiobol (11mm, 0.49 g, 12h). Head of Athena r., wearing Athenian helmet with palmette decoration / [Π]-Ε to l. and r. above, forepart of horse r. in incuse square with rounded edges and corners. This obverse style probably unpublished. Good Fine, some scratches on obv. and the flan cracked from 2 to 5 o’clock on the reverse. The obverse style of this hemiobol can be said to be influenced by the Athena heads on some Pharsalos fractions. See, for instance, lot 631 below.
