Jane Barkley joined Investors Title in 2014 as a senior title attorney and currently leads the Commercial Services Division. Prior to joining Investors Title, Ms. Barkley was counsel to national title underwriters for over 16 years, a former assistant city attorney for the city of Charlotte, a partner at Barkley and Barkley, Attorneys at Law, and legal counsel, hearing officer, and assistant clerk of court for Mecklenburg County. Ms. Barkley is a frequent presenter on a variety of real estate topics at continuing legal education programs for the North Carolina Bar Association and the National Business Institute. A former board member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), she received a CREW Networking award for influencing the success of women in the commercial real estate industry. With a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College, Ms. Barkley earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Taby Cruden focuses on commercial and residential business development and underwriting. Prior to joining Investors Title, she served in a variety of roles, including as national counsel, commercial counsel, office manager, and title counsel and relationship manager, for several national title insurance underwriters. Ms. Cruden is a member of Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women (TCREW) and the North Carolina Bar Association. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, she earned a Juris Doctor degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

Gates Grainger specializes in commercial transactions business development and provides the direct access to solution-driven underwriting support that commercial clients require. Prior to joining Investors Title, Mr. Grainger spent 10 years as agency and underwriting counsel for a regional title agency and, before then, as assistant general counsel for LendingTree, LLC. After law school, Mr. Grainger joined the Real Estate and Capital Markets Practice Group for Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein in Charlotte, North Carolina as an associate. Mr. Grainger has served in a variety of other roles which include working in the Capital Markets Practice Group at Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge, and Rice, PLLC, and being assistant general counsel in the Capital Markets Practice Group for First Union Corporation, both in Charlotte. After earning a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Davidson College, Mr. Grainger earned a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law.

Carol Hayden joined Investors Title in 1997 and serves as vice president and senior claims counsel for the company and executive vice president of Investors Title Exchange Corporation. She has worked in the title insurance industry since 1993, handling a diverse range of responsibilities including residential and commercial underwriting, escrow and like-kind exchange transactions, and title insurance claims. Ms. Hayden serves on the boards of directors for the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA) and the TCF Real Estate Foundation. She holds a music degree from Temple University and a Juris Doctor degree from North Carolina Central University. Victoria Templeton serves as vice president and exchange counsel for Investors Title Exchange Corporation and handles 1031 exchange transactions including build-to-suit and reverse exchanges. Prior to working at Investors Title, Ms. Templeton worked as an attorney for several firms in California, including the Office of Counsel for IBM, Portal Software, and the Technology Finance Division of Hewlett-Packard Company. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and her Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara School of Law in Santa Clara, California. She has served on boards of directors for various charitable organizations since moving to North Carolina.

4. Prepare for Closing

When parties are ready to close, email preliminary Settlement Statement and wiring instructions to at least 24 hours in advance.
