Spring Egg Geocaching

Registration: February 21 through one week prior to program

Ages: 12+

Locations: Kaplan’s Woods

Description: Put a little spring in your step by finding eggs hidden at Kaplan’s Woods. While a GPS can help participants locate the eggs, you still need to play hide and seek to find the treat.

Description: Looking for a new spot to hang out?

Every Monday our group heads out to Sparetime for 2 games of bowling using their accessible ramps and gutter guards. Balls and shoes are provided.

Locations: Mineral Springs

Description: Head outdoors and learn the growing sport of disc golf. The goal is to alternate throwing Frisbees with a partner until someone scores in the chain-link basket. Learn a new sport and while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The walk is about a mile long, so wear shoes comfortable to walk in. Note: the disc course is not ADA accessible.

Kickball

Locations: Manthey Park

Description: The Miracle Field at Manthey Park is where the fun begins. Come have some fun and play good old-fashioned kickball.

Minimum participants: 14 Maximum participants: 30

Tennis & Pickleball Center

The West Hills Tennis and Pickleball Center is owned and operated by the City of Owatonna Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department. The Tennis and Pickleball Center features six tennis courts, four pickleball courts, tennis ball machine and locker rooms with showers. Group & Private Lessons, Tennis Leagues, Adult Tennis Programs and Youth & Adult Pickleball Programs are available. Matt Hokanson is the Tennis and Pickleball Director.

Member Hours: Mondays through Sundays 6 a.m.–10 p.m.

Staffed Guest Hours September through May:

Mondays through Thursdays 3:45–6:45 p.m.

Fridays 5:15–8:30 p.m.

Saturdays 8–11 a.m.

Sundays 12:30–3:30 p.m.

No staffed hours June through August

In addition to a Season Pass fee and/or Guest Fee, each court has an additional court fee to be paid at each reservation. This court fee is paid by one person at the time of reservation. $2.50 per half hour per court.

Guest Pass Options

Day Guest Pass: Daily passes are paid for on a per reservation basis and are ideal for individuals not wishing to commit to a season pass or a monthly guest pass. $19 per person for up to 2 hours of play, tax included.

Monthly Guest Pass: Monthly, 30-day guest passes are for individuals. This pass works best for individuals who do not wish to commit to a full year but intend on playing with season pass holders. $52.50, taxes and court fees not included.

Pickleball

Looking for a great way to get a good workout and have fun while doing it? Join Pickleball. Private lessons, open play, drill and beginner lessons are available. All programs are located at the Tennis & Pickleball Center.

Indoor Walking Program

Season Pass $40 through August 31, 2023

Included with a Tennis & Pickleball Membership or Adult Leisure Pursuits Membership

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 6–10 a.m.

Tuesdays, Thursdays 6–8 a.m.

No outdoor shoes allowed, wear non-marking indoor shoes only

No strollers allowed in tennis court area.

Adult Tennis Programs

Tennis Lessons

Shooting Stars

The focus is on learning how to track and make contact with the tennis ball. Players also learn to properly hold the tennis racquet and begin to develop groundstrokes through various drills and games!

Young Stars

Designed for players who have completed Red Ball classes or have at least 1–2 years of playing experience. The focus is on developing groundstrokes, learning how to hit with topspin and includes an introduction to serve & serve return. Players at this stage use the shortened court with a regular tennis net.

Star Academy Middle School and Intermediate

Designed for players who have mastered the basic strokes of tennis and are between starting middle school tennis through high school junior varsity. Players further develop their strokes and learn more about tennis strategy through drilling, playing games and competition between one another.

Star Academy Advanced

Designed for players who have varsity experience and players who have been playing at a competitive level through high school tennis or USTA tournament competition beyond 12U. Players develop more advanced strokes, learn advanced strategies and prepare for competitions and college tennis.

Equipment Rentals and Concessions

Thursdays and Fridays 1—7 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays 12–7 p.m.

How does spending more time at Lake Kohlmier sound this summer? But a membership to take out a stand-up paddle board, canoe, kayak, or paddle boat as much as you want during staffed hours. For those that are not ready to commit don’t worry all rentals are $6 per hour. Membership cost is $20 per month or $55 for the entire summer. Concessions are available for purchase.

Brooktree Golf Course

Welcome to Brooktree Golf Course!

This city-owned golf course and clubhouse is nestled along the banks of Maple Creek near the entrance of picturesque Mineral Springs Park. The winding creek is a sensory delight as golfers hear the calming sound of water flowing over smooth rocks, breathe in the fresh air of the lush surroundings and feast their eyes on the beautiful scenic landscape. The babbling brook and abundant trees provide a charming namesake for the course.
