Arts grants handed out THE amount of money in the Kingston Arts Grants pool has roughly doubled since last year. Council will spend $48,000 on arts grants in this financial year, an increase of $25,000 from the previous year. A public art mural project led by Anna Wheeler will receive $5,000 in grant funding. An artwork featuring local birds, dogs, and scenery will be put up in Cheltenham. Other grant recipients were Angharad Neal-
Williams, Kate Ashforth, Mikaela Stafford, Sarah Matthews, Kieran Carroll, Peter Vadiveloo, Alexander Luciano, Nic Clarke, and Aurelien Gilfeather. Kingston mayor Steve Staikos said that continuing COVID-19 restrictions inspired council to increase its support for the arts. “Last year we provided a $15,000 increase in funding and we are happy to bolster this even further this year. We hope this support goes some way towards
