Fake note
A MAN and a woman who allegedly attempted to pass off a fake $50 note came unstuck when it became stuck in a pokies machine at a Chelsea Heights hotel, 7pm, Wednesday 31 January. CCTV is being studied for clues as to their identity.
Bike, tools stolen
A YAMAHA motorbike, helmet and tools valued at $10,690 were stolen from the garage of a house in Alkira Court, Patterson Lakes, 19-22 February. The burglars may have forced the garage door before pushing the bike away.
Robbery damages shops BAKERY workers alerted police after hearing a loud bang and seeing a four-wheel-drive being reversed through the front glass window of a charcoal chicken shop in Centre-Dandenong Road, Dingley, 5am, Thursday 22 February. A laptop and a boom box were stolen from the shop. The raid also extensively damaged the front windows of an adjoining ice cream shop and a body care shop. The three premises had to be security-shuttered afterwards.
Tools go in raid POWER tools valued at $4050 were stolen from builders working on a pavilion at Mordialloc Football Netball Club, McDonald Street, Mordialloc, overnight, Tuesday 20 February. Police recovered some of the stolen tools near a fence where the burglars may have been loading them into a getaway car. In another robbery, tools valued at $7400 – including plasterers’ stilts – were stolen from a restaurant construction site Main Street, Mordialloc, overnight Tuesday 20 February.
Victim fights back AN elderly resident fought off an intruder at his Florence Street, Mentone, house, 6.30am, Monday 26 February. The burglar ran from the scene with a TV unit, wallet and grass cutter and got into a getaway car. No injuries were reported.
Shoes nicked
A TEENAGER walking with a friend at a reserve in Governor Road, Mordialloc, had his shoes stolen by three older Caucasian boys who surrounded them, 5pm, Saturday 24 February. The Nike runners were valued at $240. The thieves ran off towards the station.
Fare farce
AN Uber driver arriving to collect a couple at a house in Robyn Court, Carrum, has claimed he was assaulted, 5.30pm, Thursday 22 February. He told police a man and a woman became aggressive when entering his cab and he ordered them out. He said the man made threats and the woman threw a bottle of water at his cab. He said she then scratched his face before he managed to grab her arms. Both parties contacted police but only the driver was at the scene when police arrived. Chelsea police are expecting to interview the woman soon.

Your shout, mate A LANGWARRIN man who allegedly robbed a liquor store in Langwarrin was later arrested while drinking at a local hotel, 6pm, Monday 19 February. Detective Senior Constable Shaun Rampal, of Frankston CIU, will allege the man, 49, demanded the young bottle shop attendant hand over cash from the till before making his escape on a bike. Detectives later found the bike at the hotel and matched CCTV footage from the liquor store to identify the man. He was charged with robbery and bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court in May.

No getting in here AN attempted carjacking at Karingal Hub shopping centre was foiled when the intended victim fought off the offender, 8.30pm, Tuesday 20 February. Detectives were told the man, carrying a bucket, flagged down the blue Nissan SUV near the Hog’s Breath cafe pleading for help. While talking to the male driver he lunged for the keys and attempted to enter the vehicle, but during a scuffle the driver managed to lock himself in and was able to drive away. The offender is described as Caucasian, aged in his 40s, 190cm, wearing a white shirt and “ratty” pants. Police are seeking witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or Detective Rampal 9784 5555.
‘Crop house’ raided UP to 90 marijuana plants were seized by police during a raid on a Carrum Downs house, Monday 19 February. Detective Senior Constable Chris Sweet, of Frankston CIU, said police seized the “commercial quantity” hydroponic set up during the evening raid in Brunnings Road. A Springvale man in his late 20s was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in May.
