Drug charge A 30-YEAR-old Carrum Downs man has been arrested and is expected to be charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence. Police executed two search warrants on 19 September as part of Operation Dexterous. Senior Constable Alistair Parsons said “investigators uncovered a large and sophisticated hydroponic cannabis crop of over 100 mature plants” at a home in Jennison Street, Chelsea Heights, around 6.30am. A man was simultaneously arrested at a McCormicks Road, Carrum Downs property. Police also seized a “large amount of cash”.

Cards taken POLICE are investigating the theft of credit cards that were later used in Clayton South, Keysborough, Dandenong, Doveton and Narre Warren. Dandenong CIU detectives believe that an unknown person broke into cars on Hanleath Avenue, Springvale on 1 September. Cards stolen from the vehicles were used later that day at service stations and a shopping complex. Images of a man (right) who police believe can assist with their enquiries have been released. He is perceived to be Caucasian and about 25 to 35-years-old with a medium build and brown hair. He has a number of distinctive tattoos on his right elbow, right and left forearm, and neck. Armed man attacks A MAN armed with a handgun struck another man and stole cigarettes from him in Frankston. The victim was walking to his car at a Nepean Highway petrol station at around 9.40pm, 17 September, when he was approached by the unknown offender. The offender was armed with a handgun, and demanded car keys from the victim. The offender then struck the victim in the head with the gun before fleeing with his cigarettes. The offender fled in a waiting vehicle south on Nepean Highway. The car he fled in was a brown or maroon VT Commodore with no license plates. The 48-year-old Frankston South victim sustained a minor injury but did not require treatment. An image (below) of a man police believe can help with their inquiries have been released. The man was perceived as Caucasian, around 183cms tall, slim, and aged in his mid 20s. He wore a grey top, black bum bag, red underwear, and a maroon beanie with ear warmers. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
Horse charges out of gates A MAN has been charged with the attempted theft of a statue from Parkdale. It is alleged that the man attempted to steal the horse statue in July of this year. A 29-year-old Mordialloc resident was hit with an attempted theft charge, along with a charge of criminal damage and possession of anabolic steroids. The man was summoned to appear at the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 19 September.
