INSTAGRAM INSPIRATION

@SOPHIEPATERSONINTERIORS How did you become interested in interior design? Even as a little girl, my favourite pastime was to rearrange my bedroom, and occasionally the rest of the house when my mum let me! After a career in events management, I had the opportunity to design a townhouse for a developer who had seen my house and liked it. I did this free of charge in exchange for the experience, and that led to more and more projects. Was designing Ava’s nursery an easy task? I had a clear idea of how I wanted it to be, in that I wanted a practical space that would grow with her. It’s still my favourite room to have designed. into the room while protecting the carpet or adding softness if you have wooden floors. I used Velux blinds to ensure total blackout during the day, and this has been a godsend. I also designed some shelves to display books – they look great as a space filler and act like art. If you don’t want to go down the bespoke route, Ikea has picture shelves that work just as well. Who do you take inspiration from on Instagram? I follow @humphreymunson – this account is a great example of a company doing social media well, plus, it’s total kitchen heaven! I also love @carolyneroehm and @casiebamford; these women do entertaining on another level and always inspire me to try harder with my own dinner parties and table décor.
