serene. The homeowners envisioned an outdoor retreat that would offer privacy, fragrance, and year-round color while honoring the home’s historic charm. A Bluestone patio accented with Old Carolina® Brick serves as the foundation of the design. The pairing of materials creates an enduring sense of place that complements Charleston’s traditional architecture. Custom iron gates refine the entryways and lend a sculptural quality to the space. Within the garden, lush beds of Camellias, Hydrangeas, Azaleas, Gardenias, and Confederate Jasmine add fragrance and visual interest. Layered evergreens provide structure, while seasonal blooms keep the space vibrant year-round. To complete the transformation, Brownswood’s landscape installation team updated the irrigation system and added Centennial Brass lighting to highlight the garden’s textures after sunset. into the evening hours. The result is a tranquil retreat that celebrates Charleston’s historic character while fulfilling the client’s vision of elegance and comfort. Among the team’s favorite features are the custom iron gate, the double patio arrangement, and the custom water feature that introduces soothing sound and movement into the garden.
