The Art of Porch Sitting For this Cane Bay couple, a Porch Panel room was a must-have to be able to enjoy the Lowcountry’s extensive outdoor living season.

A

fter a fruitful visit to Charleston Home + Design magazine’s home show and plenty of research on their part, Cane Bay homeowners Jay and Cindy knew that it was time to enlist the help of Terry Conlin and his team at Express Sunrooms. They had a very specific design in mind for the addition to their home and needed a knowledgeable crew to make their dream into a reality.

“We wanted to have a space that allowed us to sit and appreciate the outdoors without the trouble of baking in the sun on a patio or dealing 118 • CH+D • Fall 2019

with all of the pollen,” explains Cindy. Since both Jay and Cindy had fathers who were career carpenters, they also paid very close attention to detail. “After talking with Terry extensively, we knew that working with Express Sunrooms would bring people who had the same level of care for detail that we had and that we were looking for,” adds Jay. The overall project required a good bit of building and carpentry on the part of Express Sunrooms, for which they planned and communicated with the couple, planned some more, helped navigate the Homeowner’s
