NOW OFFERING PART-TIME NIGHT CLASSES! BARBERING PRACTICE & THEORY This course is the introduction to the theory and basic applications of Barbering. It introduces the history and basic barbering concepts and applications. Theory topics include: history, professional image, bacteriology, implements, tools and equipment, properties and disorders of the skin, shampooing hair and scalp treatments, shaving and facial hair design, and men’s haircutting and styling. Practical application topics include shampooing and hair and scalp treatments, shaving and facial hair design, tapered hair cutting, hair styling of men and women, analyzing and treatment of hair and skin disorder, facial massage and packs, bleaching, frosting hair coloring and body permanents and men’s hair pieces. Costs: • Student Permit: $25 (due at registration). Payable with credit/ debit card to NC Board of Barber Examiners • Tuition: $190 per course (due at registration). 4 courses projected will be a total of $760 • Insurance: $15 (due at registration.) Due each fiscal year • Barber Student Kit: Approximately $815. This kit contains equipment that you will carry with you to your first job. (must be purchased prior to 10
the first day of class) • E-Books: $275 (must be purchased prior to the first day of class). • The total cost to purchase books, kit, and initial application, tuition, and insurance total approximately $1,118. This course introduces students to manicuring concepts, North Carolina State Board regulations, sanitation, manicures, pedicures, nail product chemistry, and more. Students will also learn extensively about salon business practices and how to handle product retail. Upon successful completion with a limited license, students will be able to register for and take the state board certification exam to obtain their certification and full license. Culinary Line Cook Fundamentals and Skills
The course is designed to introduce the fundamental skills and techniques utilized in the food industry kitchen setting. Course work includes safe food and equipment training, nutrition, recipe conversion, measurements, garde manger, knife skills, flavorings and seasonings, stocks, sauces and soups.
