When someone hears “Large enough for all your accounting needs; small enough to know your name,” they are not hearing an advertisement for a neighborhood hangout for a postal worker and sassy waitress. The slogan is referring to Providence Associates, a local accounting firm organized by Craig Prus in 2007.

The slogan aptly describes Providence Associates, who believes that great accounting involves a relationship with each of its clients. When a new client meets with Providence Associates, the managers begin with a “get to know you session.” The firm uses this first meeting to understand the church, business, or ministry.

In addition, the managers of Providence Associates routinely visit new clients’ locations to learn more about the clients and their unique place in the community. For income tax clients, the managers of Providence Associates still enjoy meeting and getting to know the clients. This initial meet and greet helps the staff to determine the client’s ability to qualify for certain deductions and/or credits, thus maximizing the positive results of every income tax filing.

Mr. Prus, whose previous employment involved an accounting background, organized Providence Associates to further his desire to spend less time traveling to audit businesses and ministries and more time near his family while working to serve clients. Providence Associates is a full-service firm tailoring its services to meet as much or as little as each client needs. The company’s services include processing monthly or quarterly bookkeeping, filing Internal Revenue Service forms, filing monthly sales tax, and processing payroll. The firm also prepares personal and company income tax returns, renews annual registrations, and creates W2s and 1099s for their clients.

Providence Associates is a global company as well as a local company. Although about half of the company’s revenue comes from local sources, the other half comes from ministries and churches across the United States with missionary clients in such locations as Lithuania, Thailand, and Sierra Leone.
