Coming soon to the Ribble Valley! We are a brand-new purpose-built small animal veterinary practice based at Mitton business park, on Mitton Road in Whalley.

We are an independent practice owned and run by vets Dr Claire Batty MRCVS and Dr Sian Smith MRCVS who will provide consistency of care. With their combined 32 years in practice and focus on providing first class veterinary care for patients and owners at affordable prices.

We also have three Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Veterinary care assistant and four Client care advisors. RVNs will offer clinics, monitor anaesthetics and monitor animals post-surgery. We will be providing GP veterinary care, but in addition Claire has a certificate in Surgery and is happy to review most surgical presentations including orthopaedics and soft tissue cases. Sian has a certificate in Ophthalmology and will be offering referral consultations for eye cases. We are happy to see external referrals for local practices that wish to utilise our surgery and ophthalmology skills.

Our dedicated team of RVNs will also be offering consultations for post operative checks, 2nd vaccinations, nail clips and anal gland expression; plus dental, weight, diabetic and senior pet clinics. Our facilities have been carefully designed to include 4 consultation rooms, separate dog, cat and exotics wards, a dedicated isolation ward, a general operating theatre, orthopaedic theatre, a dental suite with dental x-ray and an imaging suite with digital x-ray and ultrasound, plus an in-house laboratory.

We also have the Bowland Pet Club, which for a regular monthly fee covers the costs of preventative health care such as vaccinations, flea, tick and worming treatment, anal gland expression, nail clipping, microchipping and 6monthly nurse health check plus other benefits including discounts on surgical procedures, blood testing and medications.

Our opening hours: Monday-Friday 8am-7pm Saturday 8.30am-12.30pm

Outside of these hours our emergency care provision will be provided by Armac Vets Emergency team who are located 35minutes from our practice.

We are proud to announce the opening of Ribble Valley’s brand new independent veterinary practice. Bowland Vets was created out of a desire to put pets back at the centre of veterinary care- right where they should be!

It started out as an idea between two friends with a desire to do things differently. After a combined 32 years in practice, we wanted to get away from the corporate world of veterinary care and open a veterinary practice as it should be, owned by vets. Our vision was simple, a practice where everybody feels welcome and the animal is always put first, no matter what.

After a few tears, a lot of stress and many sleepless nights our dream became reality, and Bowland Vets was born. We believe that your pet deserves to have access to Veterinary care that is owned by vets who have their best interests at heart. We are a small experienced team who are passionate about providing high quality care in a warm, friendly environment; and proud to be there for you and your pet.
