Carol McCormack

Carol McCormack is the founder and principal of Carol Butler and Associates, a consulting firm that works with Democratic candidates and progressive organizations. Through this role, she provides guidance on campaign operations, message development, budget management, and research. Her experience spans presidential campaigns, congressional races, Senate races, gubernatorial elections, and statewide initiatives. McCormack’s involvement in politics began while she was a college student. During that time, she interned in the office of Texas Congressman Martin Frost in Washington, D.C. The internship provided an opportunity to learn about government operations and public service from within a congressional office. Following that experience, she joined Frost’s staff, where she gained practical knowledge of legislative work and constituent-focused responsibilities. Carol entered the world of presidential politics in 1988 through Dick Gephardt’s campaign in Iowa. Serving as a surrogate scheduler, she helped organize campaign activities during an important phase of the presidential race. The role allowed her to develop skills in campaign coordination and exposed her to the fast-paced environment of national politics. During the following years, McCormack worked on a variety of campaigns throughout the country. Her responsibilities included field operations, fundraising strategy, and campaign management. She worked in several states, including Michigan, Oregon, Arkansas, and Texas. A major turning point in her career came in 2000 when she served as campaign manager for Debbie Stabenow’s U.S. Senate race. Carol Butler McCormack also became closely connected with Oregon Democratic politics through her work on Ron Wyden’s campaigns. Her involvement began with his 1998 reelection effort and continued through later election cycles. These experiences contributed to long-term Democratic campaign operations within the state. In addition to Senate campaigns, she participated in Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
