New Light Board for the Auditorium
Did you attend any of our Fine Arts events this spring? You may have noticed an improvement in the stage lighting thanks to our new light board, which the theater tech students have been eagerly learning to operate.
Cadence Accolades
Carmel Catholic’s show choir Cadence successfully competed at two events this year. At the Chicagoland Showcase Competition at John Hersey High School, they earned first runner-up in the Festival Division, and Elizabeth Erickson ’16 received the Outstanding Performer award. Cadence received second place in the Festival Division at the Mundelein Invitational.
Tri-M Visits Lyric Opera
Tri-M Music Honor Society attended the Chicago Lyric Opera to see Amanda Majeski ’02 perform in “The Passenger.” Majeski not only spent time with students at the opera house, but also came to Carmel Catholic to speak with Mr. Parry’s choir classes about her career as an opera singer.
Choral Student Excels
Brody Long ’15 was chosen to represent Carmel Catholic at the IHSA District VII Senior Festival where he sang as part of the 400 member district choir.
Cadence Performs with Foreigner at Genesee Theatre Select members of Cadence were chosen to sing with the band Foreigner in concert at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan on March 20. See their performance at: http://bit.ly/1emguc4. 12
CCCA Street Scenes Room
For Street Scenes Celebrates Superheroes in February, the Carmel Catholic Council for the Arts (CCCA) decided to celebrate some local heroes in their Street Scenes room “Hall of Education,” with Mr. Kent Parry as Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Denise Sebastiano as Wonder Woman, Mr. Mike Fitzgibbons as Superman, Mr. Dave Wiebers as Green Hornet and Ms. Kacey Valentine as Mrs. Incredible.
Mr. CCHS
Once again the Thespian Honor Society (THS) sponsored this showcase of senior men. Congratulations go out to Mr. Talent, Joe Messink ’15, Mr. Congeniality, David Goekner ’15 and Mr. CCHS 2015, Ryan Kowalski ’15! Thank you to all who made the event possible, including judges, faculty and staff, as well as the amazing THS leaders, crew members and all the students involved with Mr. CCHS. THS donated all event proceeds to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. The young men who competed this year were true gentlemen and outstanding representatives of the senior class.
