If you Will, they can NINEVEH LEGACY SOCIETY

Leaving a gift to Canford in your Will is a wonderful way to ensure that the school continues to thrive and provide tremendous opportunities for young people for generations to come. All gifts big or small are greatly appreciated.

Providing for Canford in your Will demonstrates a tremendous commitment on your part, one that we think should be honoured during your lifetime. The Nineveh Legacy Society is our way of honouring and thanking those who remember Canford in their Will.

The Society is named in honour of the lasting legacy of the Assyrian Frieze brought from Nineveh by Sir Austen Henry Layard and the impact of this on the development of Canford. Membership of the Nineveh Legacy Society is granted to all those who have signalled an intention to make a bequest to Canford. Nineveh Legacy Society members are invited each year to a lunch at Canford to honour their commitment to the school. If you would like to find out more about leaving a legacy to Canford, including the inheritance tax benefits please contact Rowena Gaston or visit www.canford.com/Nineveh-Legacy-Society

“Throughout my life I have benefited from luck and good fortune and seen the importance of education but that alone does not generate true development. Attitudes and behaviours are also essential for people to achieve their potential and that gives rise to true growth and innovation. I have seen at first-hand the benefit of Canford’s ethos, values and commitment to an holistic education and by working with the abilities and limitations of individual students.

I wish to give something back that will promote opportunity for others and I believe that the Nineveh Legacy Society together with Canford School are the best way for me to achieve this.”

ERIC WALLINGTON

“Having been back to see the school several times over the years my wife and I were always impressed by the ever-increasing new building and the no expense spared level of equipment and opportunity provided. The ambitious future plans outlined by the Headmaster at every visit were never less than impressive as has been the money raising ability of Rowena and her team. The greatest impression though has always been the evidently relaxed and friendly behaviour of the then current pupils not to mention their patient attitude to old men’s inaccurate reminiscences.

Whilst always willing to give fairly regular donations to the Martin Marriott Foundation and earlier fundraising appeals, the updating of our wills combined with the fortuitous timing of a nudge from Rowena inspired the decision to leave a legacy to the school.

Being able to meet some of the current and previous bursary holders at a recent event reinforced the correctness of that decision and the hope that the Foundation will be able to continue an increasing number of bursaries in the future to provide the chance for a greater number of potential pupils who would otherwise be unable to afford to go to the school.”
