FIRE CHIEF

The Village of Bawlf is recruiting for the Volunteer leadership position of Fire Chief The successful candidate will demonstrate strong team leadership abilities and firefighting experience. Good communication and operational skills are essential in this emergency public service position. Preferred qualifications include: • NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter Level 2 • NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Training • Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with Air Brakes ‘Q’ endorsement • Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent • Strong verbal and written skills • EMR, EMT or Advanced First Aid Training an asset • Safety Codes Officer Fire (Basic) Designation • Fire Investigation Courses • A good understanding of the Alberta OH&S regulations and code related to firefighting • Ability to work effectively in a political environment This volunteer position receives a regulatory honorarium. The successful candidate will provide a satisfactory RCMP security clearance and driver’s abstract. The Village of Bawlf is a thriving community with several amenities including education, local businesses and recreation. Bawlf has an official population of 403 and is located 20 minutes east of the City of Camrose, AB along Highway 13. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is appointed. Agricultural Service Board Seasonal Staff The County of Stettler Agricultural Service Board has an opportunity for seasonal positions starting April 28, 2014. Duties will include: • Operating a spray truck • Spraying of roadsides and some private land • Working with the Weed Control Act • Weed inspection and weed control on Red Deer River • Operate and maintain a variety of chemical application equipment • Courteous and effective communication with landowners • Identify and control prohibited noxious and noxious weeds • Reclamation work • Education and awareness workshops for ratepayers • Other duties as assigned Preferred skills and experience: • Agricultural and Industrial Pesticide Applicator’s License (or willingness to obtain) would be an asset • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License • Good computer skills along with knowledge of GPS • Ability to work well with others along with strong written and verbal skills • Strong organizational abilities • Ability to identify and control prohibited and noxious weeds • Experience in operating equipment would be considered an asset We are willing to train the right candidate.
