The staff “Bo” is one of the oldest and most versatile tools in martial arts. It is a very adaptive instrument that serves as a natural extension of the body and aids in building selfdefense and improvisational skills. Training provides a full body workout and develops flexibility, coordination, strength and balance. A $55 start-up fee that includes a custom embroidered uniform is due to the instructor at first class for new students. Kobudo – Sword Arts

Explore the classical art of the “Katana” (Japanese sword), made famous by the Samurai and Ninjas. This dynamic class covers all aspects of swordsmanship (Kenjutsu) including “laido” (quick draw), “Bokken-jutsu” (practical exchange), and “Kendo” (dynamic application). Training complements everyone and develops stronger body, focused mind, and quick improvisational skills. Tai Chi

T’ai Chi Ch’uan is an internal Chinese Martial Art. Exploring and practicing the forms promotes relaxation, balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. With regular practice, one will eventually develop instinctive self-defense skills. This class is traditional Yang style. Make one-of-a-kind baskets. Instructions include how to collect and process pine needles and add embellishments to make unique baskets while exploring this lost art. A materials list will be provided or you can purchase a kit for $25, which will be used to make 2 small or 2 medium size baskets. Beginning/Intermediate Knitting

This class is for both beginners and intermediates. Beginners will explore the basics: cast on, knit and purl stitch, ribbing, binding off, fringing and weaving in ends. Intermediate students will explore pattern reading, shaping, increasing/ decreasing, lace, cable and more. Materials required: size 10 1/2 needles (bamboo) and two skeins of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn (both skeins the same color). Instructor: Alisa M. Canine Etiquette - Basic Dog Obedience

Help make your pet a more well-mannered companion. Classes will focus on skills such as sit, down, stay, come, heel, and dog-to-dog socialization. Learn techniques for such common problems as jumping, barking, destructive chewing, etc. *First class is with Humans only, NO DOGS, upstairs in the recreation center. All dogs must be at least 4 months old and fully vaccinated.
