Community Gardens
Community Gardens create a space where people from every background can come together to share their love of gardening. Community Gardens transcend social barriers and are vibrant, cooperative spaces that build self-reliance, reduce poverty, mitigate global warming, provide safe recreational green spaces, and proven to reduce neighborhood crime. Located on the Chandler bike path at 1141 N. Pass Ave., the first Burbank Community Garden thrives with a variety of carefully grown flowers, plants, and vegetables. Through a partnership between the City of Burbank and The Los Angeles Community Garden Council, this garden was opened for plot reservations in May 2022 and continues to grow with the help of dedicated volunteers. A new garden is currently being designed to open in the near future. The Chandler/Pass garden is a community building space that welcomes volunteers of all gardening skill levels. If you would like to apply to volunteer at the community garden, please visit burbankcommunitygarden.org to obtain the application and to review the garden agreements. If you don’t have a particularly green thumb, but would like to contribute to the success of this wonderful initiative, the gardens accept donations that help keep the toolshed stocked and help volunteers plan engaging events. DIG Burbank
DIG Burbank is a volunteer program that helps keep our parks beautiful. As a volunteer, you can help pull weeds, add mulch to the soil, and clean up debris in our Burbank parks. DIG is a great opportunity to give back to the community for volunteers of all ages (although most volunteers are ages 7+ and there are a few additional requirements for minors). Come join us if you’re comfortable with working outside, willing to get dirty, and able to perform physical work.
