New Dciry Bcrn cnd Grcrncry Designs Employ Frcming Anchors

Washington To meet the demand for improved farm ,building designs, the Timber Engineering Company has just prepared new designs for dairy barns and a combination corn-crib and granary.

The dairy barn design provides a 32' width with gambrel roof. A general floor plan is shorvn along with a half framing elevation and a detailed half section of the sides and roof. Wall and post footings and other details are shown. Unique in this design is the employment of Trip-L-Grip framing anchors for reinforcing all critical points such as studs to sills, rafters to plate and studs to joists.

The combination corn-crib and granary design provides f.or a 27' x 32' building for storing 2,000 bushels of grain and 1,000 bushels of corn. To guard against grain pressures and generally strengthen the overall structure framing anchors are used throughout.

The framing anchors, a new item, are being nationally distributed through retail lumber dealers. Lumber dealers and farmers may receive free copies of the designs and detailed information on the use of anchors by 'rvriting the Timber Engineering Company at Washington, Chicago or New Orleans.

New Commercial Standard For Douglas Fir Plywood

(Continued from Page 4)

Also eliminated from the stock grades of fir plywood being manufactured is the marine grade of the exterior type. The marine grade, developed for the military during the war, was intended to withstand the exrreme use conditions imposed by the Army and Navy; very little has been produced since war's end. Some manufacturers will continue to produce, on special order, exterior plywood of selected veneer and special ply construction in accordance with specifiations of the individual producer.

All grades of exterior type fir plywood, of course, are manufactured with the same waterproof phenolic resin adhesives. The Sound 2 Sides grade of exterior plywood has proved most popular for most uses either in commercial or pleasure craft; for some applications, Sound 1 Side panels are specified.

Copies of the complete standard, which not only describes in detail the types and grades of Douglas fir plywood but which as well sets forth the performance requirements for the material, will be supplied free upon request to Douglas Fir Plywood Associzrtion, Tacoma 2. Wash.
