Roy Paul Nelson, 25, ol Portland, Ore., has been addetl to the staff of the American Forest Products Industries as an assistant to the editorial director.

Nelson formerly rvas associated with McCann-Erickson Advertising Agency in Portland and prior to joining AFPI's editorial staff was with the United Press Bureau in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Besides being a native of the Nation's number one lurnber producing state, Nelson can claim an inherent interest in the forest in<lustries. His grandfather, the late Peter Rood, was for many years a lumberman in the Pacilic Northwest.

During World War II Nelson served with the Navy in the South Pacific and Far East as a small boat officer' At lvar's end he held the rank of lieutenant junior grade' Nelson is a graduate of the University of Oregon rn'here he edited the college yearbook. He also took undergraduate rvork at the University of Southern California and rv;rs columnist on the college ner'vspaper there' Upon his release from active duty in the Navy, Nelson studied commercial art in Los Angeles. He has contributed to national magazines.

New BRACE-TITE Lcrthing SYstem

A new type of suspended ceiling construction providing all the rigidity of nailed-on gypsum lath, plus all the features ordinarily associated with suspended ceiling constrtlction, is nolv being featured by United States Gypsunr Company.

Known as the BRACE-TITE Lathing System, the nerv rnethod was developed in the USG laboratories, and is an exclusive product of USG research. It requires only standard tools, and does not require special training of either lathers or plasterers. Standard channels, either hot- or cold-rolled. ancl conventional l}-inch or 16-inch spacing are used. United States Gypsum Company provides all the materials for the complete system, and assumes entirc product responsibility.

A new folder giving complete specifications for the BRACE-TITE Lathing System and outlining recornmended rvorking methods is available, and can be obtained from USG salesmen and dealers.
