Stanley C. "Bud" Powning, 61, retired manager of Walled Lake Door Co., Gila Bend, Az., died of a heart attack Sept. 15, 1990, while elk hunting near Flagstaff, Az.

Born in Reno, Nv., he spent in his life in the lumber and woodworking industry in Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, California and South America. He retired from Walled Lake Door Co., after five years at the helm, when the firm closed in 1988.

Mr. Powning is survived by his widow, Zina, his mother, his grandmother, two sons, a brother, a sister, six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Seldon W. VanderWegen, 68, an associate member of the Western BuildingMaterial Association, Olympia, Wa., died Oct. 7, 1990, in Tumwater, Wa.

A native of Thorpe, Wi., he owned and operated accounting firm VanderWegen & Associates, Shelton. Wa.. which works with WBMA and a number of building products companies in the area.

'Mr. VanderWegen is survived by his widow, Cassie, three daughters, a brother, and six grandchildren.

Elmer Rru, 74, former owner of Madera Lumber Co., Madera, Ca., died Oct. 17, 1990, in Madera.

Born in Kermit. Ca.. Mr. Rau joined Pierce Lumber Co. in 1934 as bookkeeper, becoming manager in l944.He bought Madera Lumber in 1953, reselling it in 1979 to Boise Cascade.

He was an honorary director-atlarge for the Lumber Merchants Association of Northern California, having been LMA president 196l1963, President's Award recipient 1977, and a director for l0 years. He was also president ofthe San Joaquin Valley Hoo-Hoo Club in 1958.

Mr. Rau is survived by his widow, Eleanor, two sons, a daughter, a sister and 12 grandchildren.

Ernest John Wilson. 65. retired sales manager, Canadian operations, Pope & Talbot, Portland, Or., died Sept. 20, 1990, in Portland.

A native of Everett, Wa., he worked for Edward Hines Lumber Co., Wickes and Balfour Guthrie before his l6 years at Pope & Talbot. He retired five years ago.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his widow, "Mike", two sons, and two daughters.

Edwin G. "Bud" Goudge, 69, a 38 year employee of Pope & Talbot, Portland. Or.. died Oct. 13. 1990. of heart failure in Portland.

Born in Boulder, Co., he moved to Portland in 1947 after serving with the Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. He started in Pope & Talbot's steamship division and managed lumber sales at their Oakridge, Or., sawmill until his 1983 retirement.

Mr. Goudge is survived by his widow, Ruth, three daughters, two sons and five grandchildren.
