If you thought that the big red arrow on the signs of three separate building material retailers looked very similar, you were correct, but they are not three separate firms.

Payless Cashways, Inc., the big Kansas City, Mo.-based chain of building materials supermarts that has 15 units in the West, has found for legal reasons that they are unable to use the parent company's name in every location. For this reason, the stores carry the name Barcelona on the big red arrow sign on their two Albuquerque, NM., stores as well as the one in Santa Fe, N.M.

At their four stores in California (Bakersfield, Sacramento, Modesto and Fresno) the name Furrow is used, which is the family name of the founders of Payless CashwaYs. The Eugene, Or., store has also been changed to carry the fjurrow name'
