Who is Your Twinkling Star?

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is calling on our incredible Blue Stream Academy team to look to the stars this winter, and help raise much-needed funds by joining the charity’s Twinkle, twinkle appeal.

The appeal gives people the opportunity to dedicate a star to someone they love, near or far, and in return they’ll receive an invitation to a moving virtual ceremony in December as well as a star to hang on their Christmas tree at home.

Each and every donation to Bluebell Wood’s Twinkle, twinkle appeal helps the charity be there for families who find Christmas incredibly challenging. Families like Sharon’s, who spent many happy years making memories at Bluebell Wood with her son, Saki, before he passed away at just 18 years old.

Now, almost two years after Saki died, Sharon is dedicating a star in his name to launch the second year of Bluebell Wood’s Twinkle, twinkle appeal, and is asking Blue Stream Academy – and fundraisers far and wide – to join her.

Saki always had a smile on his face. Even when he was poorly, he tried to see the lighter side of things. Despite having so many of his own problems, he always wanted to help other people.

Bluebell Wood was our safe place – our happy place. It was somewhere to go where Saki wouldn’t be looked at any differently. It’s such a warm friendly atmosphere, and the staff will do anything for you. We met so many incredible people, and we’ve come away with some amazing friends.

After Saki died I didn’t grieve properly to start with. I struggled on for months but then I literally broke. Bluebell Wood’s counsellor picked me up and put me back together again. Without her there’s a massive possibility I wouldn’t have been here today.

Bluebell Wood’s Twinkle, twinkle appeal is the perfect way to remember a loved one, or let the special people in our lives know they’re never far from our thoughts.

Supporting the hospice’s Christmas appeal also means they can be a real lifeline for local families, including those who sadly don’t know how many more Christmases they’ll have together.
