COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols
COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols, 2022–2023
As we prepare to enter into the 2022–2023 school year, we are entering with optimism and a focus on all that is possible for our vibrant community, despite the fact that we are continuing to adjust to the consistently-changing health pandemic. Still, we will need to maintain the highest levels of health and wellness to keep every single person at Brooklyn Friends School as safe as possible. While masks are not required, BFS will continue to
be a mask-friendly community.
We expect our entire community to do everything they can to keep everyone healthy and safe. This will require the vigilance and cooperation of every single community member—student and adult—when they are on campus and when they are not. We are grateful for your partnership in ensuring that everyone will hold themselves accountable to ensure the overall well-being of our community.
To ensure optimal entry into our school year, all students and colleagues will be required to take an at-home COVID test within 48 hours of their first day of school.
As always, BFS is committed to making this a strong and meaningful year for all and it is in that spirit that we outline our Health and Wellness guidelines for the upcoming school year:
As indicated in our Enrollment Agreement for Families, and as consistently communicated to all, students, colleagues, and anyone entering any of the BFS buildings, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As per the email sent out to the entire BFS community this summer, the following guidelines apply:
For BFS students who are under 5 years of age:
All students under 5 years of age must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by October 10, 2022 and upload proof of vaccination. Fully vaccinated for students under 5 years of age is defined as: Pfizer: 3 total doses Moderna: 2 total doses
For BFS students who are 5–18 years of age:
All students between ages 5-18 must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by the first day of school, September 7, 2022 and upload proof of vaccination. All fall student- athletes must be fully vaccinated and upload proof of vaccination by August 22, 2022. Fully vaccinated for students ages 5-18 is defined as: Pfizer: 2 total doses Moderna: 2 total doses While we strongly suggest all eligible students receive a booster, it is not required by BFS at this time.
Always keep your child home if they have:
l Fever above 100°F. l Respiratory symptoms (cough, difficulty breathing) not a previously diagnosed condition (ie. allergies) l Vomiting l Diarrhea l Rash l Any contagious illness
