PHOTO COMPETITION RESULTS

Photo fantastic!

Meet the winners of our first British Dressage magazine Dressage Photographer of the Year competition

In our first issue of 2012, we asked you to send us your favourite dressage images with the chance of winning a private photo shoot with equestrian lifestyle photographer Emily Hancock, plus press passes to the national championships. Hundreds of fantastic shots flooded in and the judges were impressed by the standard, imagination and quality of the work submitted. With so many to choose from, our judges – leading equestrian photographer Kit Houghton, equestrian artist Lydia Kiernan, BD marketing director Penny Pollard and British Dressage magazine editor Barbara Young – spent many hours selecting their favourites from three categories: Best Action Shot, Best Artistic Shot and Best of British Dressage.

WINNER

SHORTLISTED Amy Brewster

BEST ACTION SHOT: CAMILLE PETERS Seventeen-year-old Camille Peters from Gloucestershire is in her last year of A levels and planning to go to university to study Media and Communication. “My interest in dressage developed through my younger sister Phoebe’s involvement on the pony dressage scene and I also enjoy training my own dressage horse, Robin 2 Z. My winning shot was taken at the 2010 Pony European Championships at Bishop Burton. I wanted to convey the emotion and excitement of both the pony and the rider to show exactly just how much success means to sportspeople. “I spend the majority of my time taking dressage photographs and I wouldn’t want it any other way. A photograph can show anything from delicate grace to enormous power, but for me one of the most rewarding factors of dressage photography is being able to portray the harmonious relationship between horse and rider.“ SHORTLISTED Danny Berta
