Joignons-nous à l’équipe de l’école Notre-Dame cette année et sortons dehors avec nos élèves! Tout un univers d’apprentissage se retrouve à l’extérieur des portes de l’école et qui n’attend que d’être découvert!

CREATIVE LEARNING IN NATURE There is a growing interest in teaching in nature. The start of the 2020 school year has been particularly interesting, bringing changes to the way schools operate, to classroom structures, and to the safety measures implemented and followed. With this, comes the re-birth and an openness to exploring ideas and innovation in pedagogical practices. In order to support this reflection and explore possibilities with their team, the principal and viceprincipal of Notre-Dame School in Edmundston (Josée Bernier and Christine Long) joined forces with the Brilliant Labs Natural Maker team to plan a half-day of outdoor workshops to meet these interests and needs! On September 8, 2020, the teaching staff of this school

participated in natural making workshops at the Parc du Jardin de la République in St-Jacques. Under a beautiful morning sun, the day began with an icebreaker activity where the large team had to hold a knotted rope and make the knot move quickly by naming their first name as the knot passed. A great fun activity to get to know each other and also to collaborate to complete a task! A fun start for everyone, followed by a transition to handwashing with an amusing approach, that of a serpentine allowing people to follow and intertwine each other to reach the handwashing station while respecting the physical distance between them.
