Brian Reyes SAPD, is a City Councilman for Place 5 in Garden Ridge and a Captain in the San Antonio Police Department. With over 20 years of public service, he brings extensive experience in law enforcement, leadership, and civic engagement. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s and Doctorate in Criminal Justice from Texas State University. He is pursuing an MBA at the University of Texas at San Antonio to strengthen his impact in policing and local government. Brian began his career in 2001 as a Police Patrol Officer and steadily advanced to Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. A strong commitment to continuous learning and team development has marked his journey in public service. As a city Councilman, he contributes to key city decisions involving budget planning, project reviews, and public input initiatives. Brian's assignments have included leadership positions in Homicide, Property Crimes, and Internal Affairs, where he served as Commander from 2016 to 2018. He later led the department’s Training Academy and oversaw leadership development programs aligned with national law enforcement standards. His passion for education is also reflected in his work as an Adjunct Professor, where he teaches criminal justice and leadership at several Texas universities. As Commander of the San Antonio Airport Police Department, he managed operations for nearly 10.7 million passengers annually, building coordination among federal, state, and local agencies. As Patrol Operations Commander, he oversees responses to significant incidents and promotes strategies that prioritize public safety and accountability. Brian lives in Garden Ridge with his wife and four children. In addition to his professional duties, he is involved in youth sports, church leadership, and service-based initiatives.
