Brian Platt serves as Partner and Director of Public Policy for UMusic Hotels Development, a real estate development company formed in collaboration with a global music enterprise to create music-centered destinations across North America. In this capacity, he works at the intersection of culture, economic growth, and public-private cooperation. The developments he helps guide include performance venues, recording studios, a music school, and branded hotels and residences. Through this work, he supports the creation of spaces intended to strengthen local economies, promote music tourism, and provide meaningful opportunities for emerging artists and the next generation of industry talent. Brian previously served for 12 years in municipal government, holding executive leadership roles in two major cities. As City Manager in Kansas City, he helped launch and facilitate more than $5 billion in redevelopment initiatives within five years, contributing to a period of substantial investment and expansion. He also implemented sustainability efforts, including planting 10,000 trees in three years and advancing the pursuit of one of the largest solar arrays in the United States. His leadership reflected a steady focus on responsible development, operational efficiency, and long-term environmental planning. Brian Platt also served in Jersey City, where he first held the position of Chief Innovation Officer and later became Business Administrator and City Manager. In those roles, he supported record levels of housing construction comparable to Manhattan. He worked to enhance the delivery of core municipal services, including increasing street resurfacing output and strengthening snow removal operations. He also directed additional attention and resources toward low-income families and individuals experiencing homelessness, aiming to improve access to services and raise overall standards of support within the community.
