Brendan Malanga

Ellicott City, United States

Brendan Malanga has built two careers, first in education and now in real estate, and the same working habits have carried through both. As a Realtor with The Nancy Hulsman Group at Coldwell Banker in Ellicott City, Maryland, he serves buyers and sellers throughout Howard, Baltimore, Carroll, and Anne Arundel counties. The preparation, patience, and genuine investment in people that marked his teaching now anchor a client-first approach, which has earned him one of the strongest repeat-client rates in the field. For a first-time buyer, a seasoned investor, or a family considering whether to upsize or downsize, he offers both deep market knowledge and a teacher's ability to make complex decisions clear. His background begins in New Jersey, where he was born and lived until he was twelve. Nine years in Hickory, North Carolina, followed, and he then moved to Boston for college. He chose Northeastern University for reasons both personal and academic: his lifelong interest in basketball and the Boston Celtics on one side, and the university's strong history program on the other. He graduated summa cum laude in 2003 with a major in history and a minor in education, then began a classroom career that would span fifteen years. He taught at TechBoston Academy, a Boston Public Schools campus where 97% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch. Leading eleventh and twelfth grade history, he specialized in World War II, the Holocaust, human behavior, and post-Civil War African American history. His teaching reached beyond the classroom as well. For ten years he planned, fundraised for, and led a two-week trip to Central and Eastern Europe, taking fifteen to twenty-five honors students each year to study the Holocaust and the Second World War firsthand. The program meant raising more than $50,000 annually, all in addition to his teaching duties. He later assembled a Washington, D.C. trip that lasted three years and shared in planning a trip to Puerto Rico.
