appy Days nursery in Bradley Stoke took it upon themselves to raise money for BBC Children in Need by conducting their very own version of the ‘Rickshaw Challenge’, emulating the official BBC ride made by six young people who cycled from Calais to Salford, a distance of 423 miles. Between Monday 12th and Friday 16th November, Happy Days Nursery hosted a stationary exercise bike in their reception area to help them ‘cycle’ the equivalent of 489 miles, representing a virtual journey that started at the group’s Swindon Nursery and finished at their Falmouth nursery, visiting all 21 of the company’s nurseries along the way. The miles were clocked up not only by the staff of the local

nursery, but also by several parents, and even some of the group’s head office staff who travelled up from Cornwall to support and take part. Working within the childcare sector, the staff and the management team within the nursery say they are always keen to support any event that will raise money to support children’s wellbeing across the globe. Speaking to the Journal, Jen Kilbride, nursery manager and Stacey Bailey, deputy manager, expressed how thankful they are to everyone who helped complete the challenge. Through donations in the nursery and via an online Rickshaw Challenge donation page, parents and staff at the Bradley Stoke nursery raised £337 for Children in Need.
