FILMS DISNEY Few movies have been as anticipated as the sequel to 2013’s surprise smash ‘Frozen.’ Lucky for any girl sporting Elsa’s Arendelle aqua dress or parent who’s heard “Let It Go” 17 times too many, ‘Frozen 2’ does not disappoint. The songs from husband and wife team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez soar: Elsa’s showstopper, “Into the Unknown,” once again highlights the wickedly talented Idina Menzel, while Christoph (Jonathan Groff) gets a “Bohemian Rhapsody”-esque ballad with a dash of Peter Cetera. But the best number belongs to “Some Things Never Change,” with the entire cast getting in on the fun. The animation is more refined, more realistic, and the story isn’t a simple rehash of the first installment. Complete with an ecological bent and a not-sosublte dig at the underlying intention of those who pontificate about the value of walls, Anna and Elsa must uncover and confront Arendelle’s unsavory past in hopes of saving the present. All while Olaf muses about the transience of being, and an adorable little fire sprite whips-up mischief. Not a bad showing for a piece of pop entertainment designed for the whole family. Bring Kleenex. —MJC
