Géographie Geography Moorea est une île d’origine volcanique à 17 Km au Nord-Ouest de Tahiti. Longitude : 149° 49’ 48’’ Ouest Latitude : 17° 32’ 9’’ Sud D’une superficie de 13200 hectares, le tour de l’île s’étend sur 62 km. La montagne la plus élevée est le Tohiea, 1207m. Parmi les autres sommets, le Mou’a Puta (montagne percée) 830m, le mont Rotui (entre les baies de Cook et d’Opunohu) 899m et le Mou’a Roa, 880m (appelé Bali Hai dans le film Américain South Pacific). Son lagon est, avec celui de Bora Bora, le plus beau des îles de la Société. Il abrite quelques motu et se prête à toutes les activités nautiques. Vue de la mer, Moorea est encore plus belle.

Moorea is an island of volcanic origin, situated 12 nautical miles to the Northwest of Tahiti. Longitude : 149° 49’ 48’’ West Latitude : 17° 32’ 9’’ South Total area = 3,2618 acres and 37.3 miles around. Mt Tohiea, 3,959ft is the highest mountain. Among the other peaks are the Moua Puta (the mountain with a hole) 2,722ft, the Rotui mount (between Opunohu and Cook’s Bay) 2 949 ft, and the Moua Roa 2 887 ft (called Bali Hai after the American film South Pacific). Moorea’s lagoon is, together with Bora Bora’s, one of the most beautiful in the Society Islands. It harbors “motu”(sand islets) and all kinds of water sports can be practiced. Viewed from the sea, Moorea is even more beautiful.
