Ride with other girls your age, and learn to maintain your mountain bike! You’ll gain technical skills and receive sound nutritional advice from local athletes. Explore the single-track trails and learn skills on proper equipment responsibility, technical riding skills, safety, sharing, and respect for others and the sport of cycling. Hello downtown Boise! For the summer of 2016 Boise Parks and Recreation along with instructors from B.Y.R.D.S. Cycling will offer a series of beginner/intermediate youth mountain bike camps that will start and end at Ann Morrison Park (Old Timers Shelter off of Royal St., next to Boise Parks and Recreation Administration Office). Camps will focus on educating participants on proper and safe cycling skills, greenbelt riding, city riding, trail etiquette, technical riding skills, bike maintenance and care, fitness and nutrition, safety and basic first aid, as well as riding with kids of similar age and ability. Camps will be held in July and August from 9:00am-noon, Monday-Friday. Boise Parks and Recreation MTB camps are co-sponsored by the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association. Taught by local experts, this camp covers all aspects of mountain biking. This camp is meant to increase participants’ abilities to ride more often, safely, and take on more difficult trails and riding challenges. Riders signing up for this class must have completed a Trailblazer Youth Cycling Program and ride with more confidence as compared to a beginner rider or receive prior approval to join from instructor. PRESCHOOL NATURE CAMPS MAMMALS, REPTILES, AND INSECTS!
Campers will learn about the various mammals, reptiles and insects that can be found in and around Boise. There will be songs, a walk, stories, crafts, games and lots of hands on experiences. These camps will be the same for all three sessions. We will be indoors and outdoors. Sunscreen should be applied before camp if the child cannot do it. Wide brimmed hats are recommended. Closed toe shoes, a snack and a beverage in a closable container are a must. In the spirit of sustainability, reusable containers are encouraged.
