What it is about: A Public Hearing for residents and property owners within Electoral Area ‘E’ – Beaver Creek, will be held to consider Bylaw P1463. This bylaw is a Zoning Atlas Amendment to rezone LOT A DISTRICT LOT 108 ALBERNI DISTRICT PLAN VIP71560 from Small Holdings (A1) District to Acreage Residential (RA3) District to facilitate a subdivision proposal. How can I learn more: The Public Hearing will be held by the Director for Electoral Area ‘E’, the Alternate Director or the Chairperson of the Regional District. The Board resolution making this delegation, along with Bylaw P1463 and relevant background documents, is available for review online at www.acrd.bc.ca/events/3-10-2022/. Planning staff are available to answer questions in person, through email, or by phone during normal office hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, from September 21, 2022 to October 3, 2022, excluding statutory holidays. How can I provide input: Providing an opportunity for public input is a top priority for the ACRD. Consider written submissions as an effective means to do so. Anyone who feels their interest in property will be affected by the proposed bylaw will be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard. Options include participating in the Public Hearing by electronic means using Zoom video conferencing or teleconferencing, and/or submitting correspondence to the ACRD. If you wish to participate in the Public Hearing electronically or by phone, full instructions to do so are available on our website at www.acrd.bc.ca/events/3-10-2022/ or can be provided by contacting Planning staff by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 250-720-2700. This Public Hearing will be recorded and livestreamed on our website. The Port Alberni Bombers have won four in a row and are undefeated on home ice so far this season. The VIJHL team picked up a 5-2 win against the Lake Cowichan Kraken on Wednesday, Sept. 21, where the Bombers opened things up in the first period with a goal from Blake Power. They earned a five-minute powerplay shortly afterwards when Kraken forward Kyler Smith received a major for a blow to the head, but were unable to capitalize on it. In the second period, the Bombers doubled their lead with a goal from Justin Osborne, but the Kraken tied things up halfway

Predators 3-0. Plendl made 39 saves on Saturday for his first VIJHL shutout. Port Alberni has a challenge ahead, as the Bombers face the undefeated Comox Valley Glacier Kings at the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at www.portalbernibombers.ca and at the door. ICE CHIPS…The BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs opened their season on the road last weekend, with a 3-2 win in Victoria and a 3-1 loss in Cowichan. The Bulldogs will be back on home ice for their home opener against the Powell River Kings on Saturday, Oct. 1.
