Stormrider Downhill Trail and Bike Park

aficionados will want to attack one of the great trails in the South Cariboo, which is only a few minutes away from downtown 100 Mile House. The Hun City Mountain Bike Club constructed and maintains this trail that winds its way through a forested hillside. Cyclists are going to love the Stormrider Downhill Trail at 99 Mile. Club members have recontoured the trail from top to bottom and constructed boardwalks to bypass the wet areas, so it is in really good shape right now. To get to the trail head, travel south on Highway 97 from 100 Mile House, and when you drive across the
railway overpass on 99 Mile Hill, turn right off Highway 97 onto Ainsworth Road and head up the hill. Continue up the winding gravel road for a few minutes and drive past the cross-country ski club entrance on the right. A bit farther up the road you will see a parking area on the left. On the other side of the road, there is a bike trail kiosk and an outhouse. This is the trail head for a 1.7-km low-mobility, compact gravel trail. However, you will also find the blue-rated Stormrider Downhill Trail, and then you can enjoy a 2.75-km downhill ride through the trees. The Stormrider Downhill Trail ends above the railway track and near a water reservoir, but the fun doesn’t end there. Mountain bike riders can continue left for about four kilometres along a doubletrack snowmobile trail to the Hun City Bike Park. This 2.5-acre skills park features bridges, teeter-totters, dirt jumps, a pump track, wall ride and fun box.
