Rena Strand (nee Gysler) Rena Strand (nee Gysler) passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014 at the age of 83 years, at Polson Special with family around her. Rena was born in ReuƟgen, Switnjerland and her family moved to Canada (Dryden, Ontario) in 1937. In Dryden, Rena went to school, worked at St. Regis Paper Mill and met Len Strand (the love of her life). They married and had two daughters, Lenora and Carolyne. In 1959, the young family moved to Vernon and added a daughter, Cynthia, and a son, Leonard to the household. Once the kids were all in school, Rena returned to work and spent 17 years at the Hiram Walker DisƟllery in WinĮeld. Rena loved to garden and spent hours tending to vegetables and beauƟful Ňowers. Travelling was another passion and she went back to Switnjerland for a visit, across Canada and to Australia as well as trips to the U.S. and all over B.C.

HADDOW, WALTER MCLAREN It is with great sadness that we announce on June 14, 2014 aŌer a brief illness our brother, father and grandfather Walter Haddow passed away in his 84th year. Walter will be greatly missed by his son Randy (Chris), daughters Sharon (Kevin) and Leanne (Max), sisters Peggy and Iris (Ed), stepdaughter Trudy (John), his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Further leŌ to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews and many friends. Over the years Walter made many friends in Armstrong, Vernon, Stewart, Chetwynd and Dawson Creek. Following cremaƟon Walter will make his way home to Sunrise Valley for his Įnal resƟng place in the fall.

She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Hanna Gysler, one sister Giesela Hencnjel and her husband of 47 years, Len in 2001. She will always be remembered and loved by her children Lenora (Ross) Taylor of Vernon, Carolyne (Nashir) Kassam of Vernon, Cynthia (Wayne) Zibin of Kelowna and Len (Dominique) Strand of Vernon. Her ten grandchildren Jessica (Brandon) Young, Jacqueline (Dan Weins) Morneau, Christopher (Victoria Wood) Morneau, Aaron Morneau, Lauren Taylor, ScoƩ (Megan Bevan) Taylor, Nathan and Breann Zibin and Sydney and Soleil Strand. Four great-grandchildren Rena and Layla Young, Jaxon Taylor and Jordan MorneauWeins. She is further survived by one brother Harry (Lydia) Gysler of Calgary, three sisters, rna Orr of Vernon, leanor ( d) Hencnjel of Grand Forks, and Lorraine Fraissard of Australia/India. As well as sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise Strand-Russell and Gus Strand of Duncan, Alice (Hal) Vivian of South Carolina, Evelyn Armistead of Texas and Ed Gatey of Ladysmith. There are many nieces and nephews who will miss AunƟe Rena as well as friends who will miss their good friend.

McLEAN, Lloyd Donald It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father Lloyd Donald McLean on June 15, 2014 in his 87th year. Born on January 4, 1927 in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Don graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Toronto in 1950 and then from the University of Guelph in 1954 with a degree in ,orƟculture. ,e co-founded McLean-Peister Ltd. (landscape contractors in Kitchener Ontario) and was very proud of his many major business contracts including the landscaping of džpo ϲ7, Straƞord, American Motors Plant in Branƞord, as well as many UniversiƟes in Ontario. In 1963 he was elected president of the Ontario Landscape ontractors AssociaƟon. An avid outdoor enthusiast Don moved to the Okanagan in 1988 and thoroughly enjoyed hiking, downhill skiing at Silverstar, bird watching and gardening. Don was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Beatrice (Bricknell) as well as his sister Anna Stroh and BeƩe ,oīman all of Kitchener. ,e is survived and lovingly remembered by his sister Gladys Buck of Kitchener and daughters Heather Morrison of Peachland, BC, Debbie Dahms of Steveston, BC, and his son ScoƩ McLean (Loni) of Peachland, BC as well as his grandson MaƩhew McLean and granddaughter Samantha McLean. A Service for friends and family will be held at First Memorial Funeral Home, 1211 Sutherland Avenue on June 24, 2014 at 1͗00 p.m. In lieu of Ňowers, donaƟons may be made to Shriners of BC and Yukon.
