Philippians 1: 3-4
Dear Friend of Loughlin,
Imagine how wonderful life would be if we lived every day fi lled with gratitude. The world is charged with the grandeur of God. Christmas celebrates God-With-Us. Christmas
celebrates “THE” gift. All our gift giving is predicated on God’s gift to us. The Feast of the Epiphany reveals the universal scope of the gift. It makes sense that we should be generous, even extravagant. We refl ect in a simple gesture what God has done for us.
This Clermont issue attempts to capture our sense of gratitude for all that has been given to the Loughlin community. So much of what we are grateful for is framed in the faces of the people pictured in these pages. Thankfully, we are able to host in-person events for those who are comfortable attending them. It renews and energizes our sense of “family”. The classes of 1970 and 1971 celebrated their 50th Anniversary. For some this was their fi rst time back in the building since graduation. Imagine the feelings of familiarity and comfort mixed with a profound awareness of, “How far life has taken me!”
In the end, life is about change and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. By the time you receive this issue of the Clermont the expansion of the biomedical lab will be complete. The much-referenced Anatomage Table will be in its place. Students’ eyes will widen in surprise and a bit of wonder at this marvelous learning tool. Coming almost as an afterthought will be an emerging pride that swells with the realization that this is in my school. And fi nally, the renovation plan for the patio area leading to the school yard has been fi nalized and agreed to. When fi nished, the exterior of the building will be inviting and welcoming for students and families, while Loughlin’s beautiful façade will enhance the Fort Greene Historic District.

Our Loughlin family has been altered by retirements and personnel changes. John Klemm ’65 was given a worthy send off as he and his wife Kathy move to the sunbelt to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. John was presented with the school’s highest honor, the Lionheart Award. The event was well attended and framed by laughter and Loughlin pride. Andy Leary assumes the mantel as Vice President for Institutional Advancement joined by Josephine McKenna ’90, Tiff any Perkins as Associate Directors of Development, and Tiff any Livingstone ‘00 as Database Coordinator. Our faculty has undergone some changes as well. We have four new members and a new Lasallian volunteer. The new members
have rolled up their sleeves taking on some extracurricular and tutoring activities in addition to teaching duties.
Our Loughlin family has much for which to be grateful. My sentiments join with St. Paul in Philippians: ”I thank my God whenever I think of you and every time I pray for you all, I always pray with joy…”
May you be fi lled with peace and joy in the New Year. Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever.
Be well and stay safe.
Sincerely, Bro. Dennis Cronin, FSC, President
