founders Cherna and Dr. Gary Gitnick, handed the “Founder’s Humanitarian” award to Wells Fargo Bank and its EVP Tom Booker. “The fund is helping thousands of students in low-income communities overcome obstacles to go to college and earn their degrees,” said CEO Kenny Rogers. More than $2 million was raised to benefit the organization and support its life-changing programs. Among the many guests spotted at the SRO event… Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, Julianne Hough, Frances Fisher, Daryl Hannah, and Ali and Donanne Kasikci. ****** The Beverly Hilton was also the location for the Arthritis Foundation Awards gala honoring actor Danny Glover, and CEO Scott F. Kavanaugh of First Foundation Bank with “Jane Wyman Humanitarian” awards. The evening featured musical performances by Grammynominated recording artists Plain White T’s, and the vocal group Sonos… A definite audience-pleaser as was a live auction which had the audience bidding away for some terrific items. A video produced by Anna Obropta, showing the many faces of arthritis, was very informative. Acclaimed film producer Deborah Snyder was the gala’s chair, with Stanford K. and Adrienne Rubin, and Christine Lindsay being honorary chairs.

Alumna Shante Lewis, a graduate of UC Santa Cruz and John Hopkins with her mentor Judy Carter delivered some stirring moments. Actor/comedian Adam Sandler presented the “STARS 2012” to Rob Moore under whose leadership, Paramount released the acclaimed documentary Waiting For Superman, the provocative examination of the crisis of public education in the U.S. Fulfillment Fund

The foundation is committed to raising awareness and reducing the impact of this serious and painful disease, which can severely damage joints and rob people of living life to its fullest. ****** Needless to say, it was a delicious evening… The annual U.S. Pairing Dinner hosted by Maurice-Richard Hennessy of Hennessy Cognac… Once a year, Hennessy hosts an intimate dining experience for top food, beverage, and lifestyle journalists in the U.S. and chose Beverly Hills as the host city. Top LA-based journalists convened in the private dining room of Crustacean on little Santa Monica as Hennessy talked about the history of the family business, the cognac spirit category, and the various premium Hennessy marques. He spoke about the distillation process of some of the cognac brand’s top four marques and explained each flavor profile. Throughout the five course meal, Crustacean Executive Chef Helene An popped in to chat with guests before heading back to the kitchen. As an added treat, the newly appointed Consul General of France in L.A.
