JUNE 7 – BOOK LAUNCH PARTY “RETURN TO MOOSE RIVER” BY EARL BRECHLIN 7 p.m. Jesup Memorial Library 34 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor 207-288-4245 • jesuplibrary.org Join writer and Registered Maine Guide Earl Brechlin for the launch of his book “Return to Moose River,” a collection of narrative, nonfiction essays about the natural wonders, history and traditions of the Great North Woods of Maine including Baxter State Park, the East Branch of the Penobscot River, (now part of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument) and the Appalachian Trail. The book is also an homage to a group of hardy voyagers, who have shared expeditions to those places for more than 30 years, and an expression of the love for a brother lost. Celebrate the launch of the book and meet some of the “moosers.” Co-sponsored by Sherman’s Books. JUNE 9 – WILD GARDENS OF ACADIA PLANT SALE 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church 41 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor 207-288-3340 • friendsofacadia.org Each spring since 1961, the volunteers of the Wild Gardens of Acadia hold a benefit plant sale to support the maintenance of the Gardens. The sale offerings include native plants, vegetable seedlings, herbs, annuals, and perennials. Plants are donated from local nurseries, private estate gardens, and the Wild Garden volunteers’ personal gardens. The sale will be held rain or shine. All proceeds will help support the Wild Gardens of Acadia. The Wild Gardens of Acadia is an official committee of Friends of Acadia. JUNE 15 – VERSE UNLEASHED! The beauty of Bar Harbor was first captured on canvas in the mid-1800’s by noted American painters. Soon, other artists followed and today Bar Harbor and Downeast Maine support a lively arts community. Come to the Village Green on Saturday and Sunday to see the wonderful works of art from nearly 35 artists. During a break, the Acadia Art Achievement Award will be presented to the 2018 recipient. The recipient is an individual in our community who has dedicated their lives to supporting and enhancing the arts in Bar Harbor and the Acadia region. The 102+ mile route follows the scenic Downeast Sunrise Trail which starts in Ellsworth, the Crossroads of Downeast Maine, and finishes in Eastport, the Easternmost City in the USA.
