On behalf of the Office of Int’l Programs, I bring you greetings, and I welcome you to the United States, to the Capitol City of Columbia, South Carolina, and, most importantly, to Benedict College. Multiculturalism, cross-cultural dialogue, and geographic diversity are on full-display at Benedict as the College has enrolled int’l students from twenty-four [24] nations spanning Argentina to Zimbabwe, a host of int’l faculty and staff from all corners of the world as well as a diverse domestic student population comprised of students from across the U.S. The Office of Int’l Programs is charged with internationalizing Benedict College. We achieve this in several ways to include recruitment, admission, and retention of int’l students from around the world and sponsoring cultural programs and events on an annual basis.

Equally important, the Office of Int’l Programs oversees, services, advises, manages, and bears various institutional and federal government reporting responsibilities for several different Int’l Student Groups to include newly-admitted int’l students, continuing int’l students, int’l transfers, int’l graduate students enrolled in the BC MBA and Sports Management Masters Programs, int’l graduates approved for OPT and STEM OPT Employment Authorizations for 1-3 years after graduation, and the Benedict College Int’l Student Association [ISA].

This section is designed to help you navigate the F-1 student experience in the U.S. to ensure that you have a smooth transition to the College and that you sail thru your collegiate experience with a clear understanding of specific immigration rules and regulations that will govern you as an F-1 student for the entire period of your enrollment at the College and beyond.

Please carefully review the information which follows. Should you have questions or require clarification, please contact the Office of Int’l Programs by phone at [803] 705-4527, or e-mail Tamiko.newborn@benedict.edu. I look forward to making your acquaintance and to assisting you throughout your educational journey at Benedict College.

Sincerely,

Ms. Tamiko Newborn, DSO Designated School Official/OIP Coordinator
