Ben Aderholt

Ben Aderholt is a veteran attorney and professor based in Houston, Texas, with a career spanning more than 5 decades. Over fifty years in practice, he developed deep experience in construction law, business law, and bankruptcy. He advised corporations, contractors, developers, and financial institutions in complex disputes and transactions, earning a reputation for strategic thinking, measured counsel, and strong professional ethics. He completed his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor at The University of Texas, laying the groundwork for a long career in private practice. He later pursued graduate study in international law, completing coursework toward an LLM in International Business Transactions at Lazarski University. Through participation in an academic exchange program, he studied comparative legal systems and cross-border commercial regulation. Aderholt began practicing at Coats Rose, P.C. in Houston, concentrating on bankruptcy, creditor rights, and commercial litigation. His early work involved corporate disputes and financial restructurings that demanded detailed analysis and careful advocacy. In 2002, he joined Looper Reed and McGraw, P.C., where he practiced for more than twenty-four years, representing clients in construction disputes and complex business matters. Construction law became a central element of his professional identity. He counseled clients on contract drafting, regulatory compliance, risk allocation, and dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial. His cases addressed delays, cost overruns, payment conflicts, and performance issues, with a focus on protecting financial interests while supporting long-term project success. Following retirement from active practice, Ben Aderholt dedicated himself fully to teaching Construction Law at South Texas College of Law, where he has taught for thirteen years.
