Andrew Downing ‘89 received in March 2023, a patent on Extended Laser Active Ranging System, Method, and Computer Readable Program. Andrew’s working title is M&FC Business Area GPCR Including REACH Lead Procurement Engineer Staff, Electrical and Optical Missiles and Fire Control.

Erin (Rather) Yauney ‘05 and Jacob Yauney welcomed their third beautiful daughter on January 27th, 2023. Emelia (6yrs old) and Adaline (3yrs old) simply adore their new sister Charlette.

Abby Fawcett ‘10 was named by World Exposure Report NJCAA Division

I Assistant Coach of the Year, Women’s Basketball, Butler Grizzlies. Fawcett has helped guide the Grizzlies to 4 national tournament appearances, including 4 Jayhawk Conference Regular Season Titles, & 2 Region VI Championships.

In May 2022, Ashley M. (LeBlanc) Walters ‘11 graduated from the Kansas City University of Medicine and BioScience in Joplin, MO earning her doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Walters is completing her pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Carter ‘12 and Hallie (Tasset) ‘12 Duling welcome Ellie Kate Duling. Ellie is loved not only by her parents but her older siblings.

Kayla (Demel) Bishop ‘13 and her husband Derek Bishop welcomed their first born, Drake Allan Bishop, on May 18th, 2022

Dr. Kaitlyn (Morgan) Weslosky ‘13 and Dr. Kevin Weslosky were married on April 15, 2023. Kaitlyn and Kevin reside in Wichita and both are employed at Robert J Dole VA Hospital.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Dominic Borboa ‘14, serves as a sonar technician aboard the warship the USS Forrest Sherman. “I was always kind of interested in serving in the military because my grandparents served,” said Borboa. “I pushed it to the back of my mind and went to college, while also working full time to pay for it. It was a lot, and I wanted something different. Now, if I want to go back to school, I know the Navy will help me. The Navy has changed my life for the better,” said Borboa. Thank you for your service!

Congratulations to Bradley and Becca (Brittain) ‘14 Payne on their wedding. Becca and Bradley were married at St. Mark’s Colwich, Decemeber 17, 2022.

Isabella Hohl ‘19

A national qualifier in both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships earning first-team All-American honors in the 60m after finishing sixth and a second-team All-American in the 100m after finishing 12th. Hohl also set the school record in the indoor 400m in a time of 56.57. She earned all-MIAA honors during the indoor season after finishing second setting a school record in the 60m in a time of 7.37. Isabella is on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Washburn University Track

Britney Ho ‘19 played on the Newman University Jets Women’s Basketball team. During the 2022-23 basketball season, Britney appeared and started in all 28 games for the Jets. She averaged 17.8 points per game, grabbed 186 rebounds on the season, and shot 30.8% (12-39) from three and 66.4% (75-113) from the free throw line.

A salute to Ethan Hull ‘19, 2nd Lieutenant. Ethan Hull graduated from United States Military Academy at West Point, May 2023, with a Bachelor of Science; BS, Defensive Strategic Studies. Ethan also participated in track and field while attending West Point.

Julia Maria Johnson ‘19 graduted in May 2023 from Texas Christian University. Julia has a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet, with a minor in Movement Science from the College of Fine Arts. Congratualtions, Julia!

John Suffield ‘19 Newman University Recipeint of the Fine Arts Achievement Award 2023. John’s talents shine in visual art and theater. He has built sets for many mainstage productions, serves as a captain of the improv troupe, the Sloppy Joes, has acted in many theatrical productions, and goes out of his way to make students in the arts feel welcome and accpeted. http://news.newman.edu/2023-academic-awards/

Congratulations to Kaylee Back ‘22 for becoming the first female All-American in program history! Kaylee is also the first national Rookie of the Year in OC Bowling history!
