2021 Champion Ram

The 2021 Oxford National Champion Ram is WWSF 21-1104, “Buckshot.” He continues a record of exceptional success for us, recording the 28th National Champion since Winning Ways Sheep Farm originated in 1980, to go along with three NAILE Supreme Champion Ewes over the same period.

Sired by our 2019 fall ram lamb “Itch,” “Buckshot” is dammed by Misty Meadows 1104, our undefeated yearling ewe in 2019. Making use of his outstanding genetics, “Buckshot” has tremendous width of top, incredible depth and capacity to go along with a big, level hip, nice tailset, and good feet and legs. He continues the Winning Ways tradition of consistent quality, genetics, and production that breed on for both us and our customers.

2021 Champion Ewe

Double “A” 2022 Yolk is one of the next pieces in our flock and was the 2021 National Champion Oxford Ewe at the NAILE Jr and Open shows. This makes the second year in a row for us to have National Champion Ewe in Jr and Open shows at NAILE. She is another ewe that represents the type of ewe we are trying to produce with great breed type and eye appeal. She is a ewe with extra length of body, great rib shape and balance. One of 2022’s strongest attributes is her soundness and straight top line. She comes from a strong line of females including the 2000 National Reserve Champion Ewe, 2014 Supreme Ewe at Indiana State Fair Junior Show, and the 2018 National Reserve Champion Ewe in the Junior show at NAILE. Yolk’s sire is Double O Acres Sure Deal, the National Champion Ram and Supreme Ram overall at NAILE in 2016.

We plan to consign ewes and rams at the Big Ohio Sale and National Sale being held at Joliet Junior College. We will have an outstanding selection of yearling ewes and ram lambs at the farm.

2020 Champion Ram

A. Brockmann 1612 “Big Foot” is the next key breeding piece in our flock as he was the 2020 National Champion Oxford Ram at the NAILE Junior and Open Shows. We love the body, rib shape, bone size and breed characteristics of this stud ram. He is sired by our 2016 National Champion Ram, “Prairie Perfection”. “Big Foot’s” dam produced a full sister who was the 2019 Reserve Grand Champion Ewe at the National Oxford Show & Sale, and was also the high-selling ewe of the sale.

At Brockmann Oxfords, we have a small flock of 15 Oxford ewes in which we strive for quality over quantity year after year, while maintaining consistency in our breeding program. We were honored to have first place flock and premier exhibitor at the 2020 North American International Livestock Exposition. Watch for our National Show & Sale consignment. 2020 Champion Ewe

The bold and massive, yet beautiful Champion Yearling Ewe “Ms. Rona” 1936 on the front cover of this month’s Banner represents the kind of Oxford female we strive to breed. “Ms. Rona” is no accident as her mother Perzee 1607 was Champion Oxford Ewe at NAILE in 2016. “Rona’s” great grandmother DG 6008 was Res. National Champion Ewe in 2007 at NAILE. Ms. Rona truly is backed by many high quality females. We would like to thank Cliff and Karen Perzee for letting us purchase “Ms. Rona” and their entire flock this past March. We have enjoyed the friendship and partnership over the many years.
