I had the pleasure of attending the BCERC Doctoral Consortium in Calgary, where the gala dinner was held at the top of the ski jump- we elected to walk up the hundreds of stairs which was an adventure in itself. In this group, I remember Venkat, and I think that Rita McGrath and Harry Sapienza were also in the group of 30 or so participants. Conversations were focused on both teaching entrepreneurship and publishing research. This was the first time I met Arnie Cooper and Bruce Kirchhoff, both of whom were supportive and offered helpful suggestions on a paper I was working on about Performance Measurement. The fact that these two well-known scholars spent time with me to shape my work was invaluable to me as I moved forward in my career.
